Cubs manager Piniella retiring after season

CHICAGO — Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella announced Tuesday that he will retire at the end of the season, ending a storied and often colorful career that included 18 years in the majors as a player and another 22 as a manager.

The 66-year-old Piniella said he was looking forward to spending more time with his family....

1. Let the rumor mill spin on...
Sweet Lou has had some success in the Majors and in '08, should have been in the WS. But the team choked. I am kind of sad to see Lou go but kind of happy as well. It depends on who Hendry (yech) hires to replace him. I would rather see Hendry gone than Lou.
