One of the big stories about this weekends DAYTONA 500
THE LACK OF CHEATING.

Cheating scandals enveloped the race the past two years .. but so far not this year. WOW! Maybe Johnson can succeed without cheating. He won the championship the last two years and both years his crew chief was fined and suspended. Really harsh and effective punishment huh?

1. The cars are all the same.........
Don't think they're allowed to do....anything.... to the car body except mess with the wings.

They can still cheat on the motors, however.

BTW, I'm guessing one or more of the NASCAR teams has a development relationship with one of the Formula One teams or perhaps TAG, The Porsche outfit that does secret development work for many car companies and race teams.

2. I'm hoping
my "hero" Bobby Labonte has one good year left in him. I doubt Petty has attracted any attention from TAG.

9. Why does Kyle Petty continue racing?
I don't think I've ever seen him finish higher than the mid-20's in the last ten years. I know the family name goes a long way, but he just is not competitive.

6. Chad Knaus
Number 48 crew chief did get caught at least once each of the past two seasons. And #48 won the championship the last two seasons. What a fucking detriment those "penalies" are. No doubt he'll behave himself this year, or maybe next.

5. Amazing how NASCAR punishes the team by suspending the crew chief!

Why wouldn't the NFL do the same thing?

7. I had to chuckle last year

when Jimmy Johnson (car driver) was questioned about the cheating done by Chad Knaus (his crew chief.) His response was damn near -"Who's Chad Knaus?"

While I think you have a great idea, (stirring up shit, attaboy) I'd like to see "punishment" in any sport for doing something wrong actually mean something and have discernible consequences which might actually prevent others from doing the same thing. Silly Me!

It reminds me of an old story I heard in a Naval Leadership course of a long time ago. The crusty old chief told his young sailor to not come back to work until he got a haircut and he never saw the young sailor again. Awesome leadership. Meaningful consequences.

8. That would be great, but with the amount of money involved,
and the "just win baby" attitude, you probably won't see much in the way of punishment. Guess it is kind of emblematic of our society in general, when you see corporations cheat everyday in order to make even more money.
