5. When does ND play BC? Or don't they?
I'm pretty sure they will since they're both in the Big East; or is BC out as of this year? I can't recall!

Go Notre Dame!

6. As an ND fan , I hate BC too
That said, they have been pretty impressive over the last year. Aren't they something like 30-4 since this point last year? Skinner has done a good job finding diamonds in the rough (Smith, Dudley, Marshall, etc) and developing them. I still want to see them win against an elite team (IMO UConn is good, but not elite this year), but they have been getting the job done against all comers. I hope you beat Seton Hall, and then leave ND 20-1.

11. The new BE is going to be ridiculous
Recent powers like UConn, Cuse, and Pitt, several very solid teams like Nova, ND, GT, and potential star teams like Cincy and Louisville. Other than S. Florida, I don't think there's a single weak team.

19. Yikes, after last night I am a little worried
Yet another game handed away in the last few minutes. This makes the BC game even more important. IMO, Tuesday is our season. Lose again, especially on national TV to a bitter rival, and I think we'll be mentally finished. Win, and we can get reinvigorated. I'm hoping we jump on them early and never let up.

24. I am very worried, but also excited
Don't mean to be melodramatic, but this game is the season for ND. Win and we get new life, lose and we're in a bad downward spiral. Beating a top 5 (at the very least, you will probably be higher in the new polls) team could also help get us in the tournament. We've pissed away way too many winnable games already, and are starting to run out of statement games. After the football games in '93 and '02, I'd love to ruin BC's perfect season, albeit in a different sport.

25. The last few seasons the Irish have almost--repeat, almost--been up
there with the big boys. Coming close, but not quite braking through. A win would probably mean an NCAA bid. A loss and they might have to make it to the final four of the Big East tournament. They didn't get in last year, and were certainly a lot better than about half the teams that did--just too many teams in the Big East above them.

26. Exactly.....Let's Go Irish!........50 minutes til tip
I thought we were tournament worthy last year, but the CMU loss likely kept us out. We did lose to Michigan and DePaul OOC this year, but both of them are decent teams and shouldn't hurt too much. I'd like to see a win tonight, and at least a split with Pitt. That should get us in, but you never know.

30. Thanks joeybee and bigwill
It's great to see them step up when they most needed to. This win will likely be huge come bid time, especially with BC being one of the 2 unbeatens, #4 in the polls, and #3 in the RPI. If we can get a split vs. Pitt, and win 2 out of Providence, Rutgers, and GT, I think we're likely in. It also helps not having an ugly RPI loss like Central Michigan this time

35. I didn't think it was that bad
The refs were calling charges/flops at both ends. Francis was called for one earlier when he caught a pass and turned into Smith. It was surprising to see it called at a critical point in the game (Dudley's), but they had been calling it all night. I can't stand BC, but they were better than I thought. The D looked very impressive (other than the man who was "guarding" Falls), they kept coming back, and would likely have won if Smith had a decent day. IMO they'll be fine in the Dance.

36. aside from the fact that it was a criticaL juncture
it was a bad caLL, because he didn't have the baLL any Longer. i think the ref anticipated the caLL.... and once you bLow that whistLe, you gotta caLL something.

the onLy caLLs in that kinda situation (where the the pLayer doesn't have the baLL) shouLd be: 1. fLagrant fouL or 2. moving pick. it couLdn't have been a pick since the defender wasn't even going for the guy with the baLL.

and i don't think it was either.

anyhow, it was a great game - i'm sore about that one particuLar caLL (i couLd feeL overtime coming) but que cera, cera.

37. Fair enough
Like I said above, I was surprised to see it called that late in the game with the score that close. My guess is that it fell under the umbrella "player control foul" category, in which it wouldn't matter if he had the ball or not.

Unless your team's name is Dook, you're going to get some bad calls against you. You're also going to get some go your way, and I think they more or less even out over a season.

41. Great rivalry game though
Like you said, 20-1 is nothing to be ashamed about. You're already in the NCAAs, and just need to get a higher seed. This doesn't make up for you beating us in football in '93 and '02 when we were undefeated, but is some payback at least. I think you will be fine tournament time. You have a good D, experienced players, and guys who are used to playing against other good teams.
