Oakland Raiders Sack Head Coach Lane Kiffin
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 03:15 PM by Winebrat
SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE, 9-30-08:

Raiders owner Al Davis got fed up with a head coach who was too vocal for his liking, so he fired Lane Kiffin on Tuesday, four games into his second season on the job.

Kiffin got the news in a phone call. In announcing the move, the team issued a two-sentence statement:

"Lane Kiffin has been released as head coach of the Oakland Raiders for cause. The Raiders will address the media at 2 p.m. this afternoon at the team's permanent facility in Alameda."

That would indicate that the team does not intend to pay Kiffin the roughly $3.5 million left on his contract, which runs through the 2009-2010 season.

On edit: Al Davis -- what a piece of work. I always wondered how John Madden put up with him.

1. Al is an idiot still living in the 70's.
Hey Rams, give Kiffin a call. His players were actually playing for him.
