Gee, I wonder how THAT feels?

Go ahead, Niedermayer. Punch the air, 'cause there's no one to sucker punch from the next game you're (not) going to play!

I've kept pretty quiet during this series, but I am glad to see the last of that dirty team.

1. I didn't see that
regardless, the Red Wings were lucky to get out of that series..one bounce the other way and they'd be going home.

I also don't see anything overly "dirty" about the Ducks..I don't like them, they knocked out my Sharks after all, but they play a brand of good physical hockey. I see nothing wrong with that.

BTW, I bet you'd love to have Niedermayer on the Wings...he's a tremendous player.

2.  It was a goal - no question.

Played all my life - definitely a goal. Goalie did not have it covered and the player scored it very quickly. Easy call.

Was Neidermayer the one who threw that elbow the other night? That should have been a 5 game suspension...

4. Yes, and in earlier games he was punching people in the head, unprovoked,
when the refs weren't looking.

The Wings don't go looking for fights - no one can say they do - so it was pretty amusing listening to the Ducks whine about the Wings' physical play! What a joke!!!

5. Reminds me of Pat Quinn and Tie Domi calling Scott Stevens a dirty player.
Talk about projection. :)

13. After what Quinn did to Orr..grrr. I DID like Domi going after the fan that fell into the sin bin.

6. True, but I'd take either one on the B's anyways.
That's the trouble with bastards that are good players. You want to hate them, but you also know that if they were on your team they'd only make the team better. :)

8. In his early days he was fearsome.
Man could he hit. I'd have taken him, too.

He's still my best friend's favorite player.

11. I met him at a charity golf tourney on Cape Cod years ago.
He was very nice.

I had my nephew with me (he plays hockey) so he wanted to get a bunch of autographs, especially Bobby Orr, who was there as well. At the 11th tee I called Orr's assistent over and asked if there was any way my nephew could get his autograph. The guy went over to Orr after he teed off, and then Orr called my nephew over and let him ride in the golf cart with him for the rest of the round. needless to say, my nephew soon had him as a hero like us oldsters already do. Orr is always a true class act.

Ray Bourque, on the other hand, was a dildo. We caught him the parking lot with no one there but me and my nephew, and he wouldn't sign an autograph for my nephew. I could understand if there was a bunch of people there clamoring for an autograph, but blowing off one 11 year old kid? I called him fuckhead when he said no. Too bad there were no gloves to drop. ;)

12. I'm sorry to hear about Ray. At a charity tournament, you are there to give autographs...
I'm really glad to hear about Orr - who is STILL a God in southern Ontario - and Roenick. I believe Roenick also was a honcho in the players' union. He was one of the first athletes they actually interviewed on PTI, if I recall correctly.

ALL the sportswriters say the hockey players are the nicest of the professional athletes.

14. It was clearly a good goal.
Hiller didn't have it covered and Cleary nudged his pad just enough to send it over the line. No quick whistle to save them this time. Scott Niedermayer has been one of my favorite players for a long time but he's dead wrong on this.

15. I agree, and it's hard to tell if Hiller wouldn't have nudged it in even without Cleary's
stick being there - the movement of his right foot/leg semed pretty natural. It would be one thing if a goalie had control of the puck and was pushed in, but Cleary had every right to stab at a loose puck, no matter where Hiller's pad was. I'm just glad there wasn't a whistle...

16. Yea they are dirty.
I was sad to see the Sharks wait so long into our series to start hitting back.

17. Good goal
And I hate the Red Wings. But they won fair and square. I agree with upton. The Ducks are not dirty. Just good physical hockey.
