Holy Shith!! After 100 years, the American press discover a cycling event called The Giro!
What in the name of Andy Hampsten is going on? I've been following the sport for over 30 years and The Giro has never received the media coverage like it has this year. It's on the front page of every major US sports page. I can understand the fascination of it's 100th year, but something else is afoot. Is Greg LeMonde making a comeback? Floyd Landis?

1. I, for one, am glad to see Sir Lancelot back.
A sport that received it's last rites two years ago is on the front page for the actual competition- not for the doping speculations. Though, that subject will always haunt this beautiful, grueling sport. Any positive news, no pun intended, is great for cycling.

2. Exactly, happy!
If the media is all over the Giro, the Tour De France will be an absolute circus. Can't wait.

3. Looks like the Tour will be a lonely topic, here.
By your last two posts you seem to be the king of unpopular sports. Maybe the America's Cup could be your next endeavor.

4. Nope, happy. Not with the College World Series coming.
Besides, the best posters here, in my very humble opinion, are the ones who touch on a variety of topics. Week after week, they post about the sport they love despite no responses from the forumites. A lot of diamonds in the rough, here. Just looking for a helping hand. Divine guidance, if you will. I have beseeched the great Ste. Jacques Of Antiele, the patron Saint of Unpopular Sports to lead the novices to expand their horizons. It is He that continually inspires the very talented to keep posting the good shit. If He can inspire just ONE to post SOMETHING besides the major Pro sports than He will have accomplished the impossible. Pray with me, forumites.

5. Yes, yes. Amen.
I do enjoy the bickering at times, however.

6. Who doesn't?
Again, another opinion. I believe George Vescey of the NY Times is the best sports writer. He can write knowledgebly about everything from Soccer to American College Football. And, not ignoring the hypocrasies of all sports. Doesn't shy away from the controversies. But he is just one of many of that great sports page. There are many unknown sports in the world. The Times explores them all. Their coverage is exemplary.

7. human power...
Lance and company could be the spark, his teammates have not been paid in two months. Including this event, biking is starting to get notice because of the amazing athletes whose endurance is second to none...:puffpiece:

8. Van De Velde, centrist?
The guy who broke his collarbone last week. Now is his time. I hope he's ready for the Tour.

10. solar power....
These guy are beyond tough but a broken collarbone is not good especially when riding the Tour. It's a long shot when speaking about 4 to 5 hours in the seat...I wish him a speedy recovery...
