LA Mayor offers LA Times as prize if Nuggets win series
Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa offers answer to Rocky shutdown: Send L.A. Times to Denver
Denver Business Journal - by Mark Harden

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa -- making the traditional bet between cities with teams in the playoffs, in this case the Lakers and Nuggets -- has offered Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper an unusual victory prize: The Los Angeles Times, his city's largest newspaper.

Basketball's Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers are battling in the NBA's western conference finals, with the winner heading to the league finals. The Lakers came from behind to win the first game of the series Tuesday night, 105-103.

Villaraigosa, noting the recent shutdown of Denver's Rocky Mountain News, said (with his tongue planted in his cheek) that if the Nuggets beat the Lakers, he would send the Times to Denver.

Incidentally, that's according to a report on the Times' website.

Villaraigosa at times has felt the sting of Times reporting and editorials....

Hmm let's see... we could offer him Focus on the Family if they win.

2. We already own it.
Or at least Media News (Dean Singleton), owner of the Denver Post, does. That was brought up in the article.
