49ers sign Dre' Bly

Veteran cornerback Dre' Bly signed a one-year contract with the 49ers just one day after the club announced starter Walt Harris would undergo season-ending surgery on his right knee.

Bly, who turns 32 tomorrow, is a 10-year NFL veteran. He played 2007 and '08 with the Broncos, who released him in February.

Bly has played every game -- and 97 percent of his teams' defensive snaps -- the past three seasons. In his career, he has been selected to two Pro Bowls while recording 40 interceptions and forcing 17 fumbles.

there's no guarantee he'll be the starter at CB. He'll be competing against 2007 49er draft choice Tarrell Brown or 2004 choice Shawntae Spencer.

So, as you can see, you're incorrect in your assertion that the Niners don't develop any players on their own...but what can you expect from a Dodgers fan.

BTW, if you don't like the 49ers and LA doesn't have a team, who do you root for when living in Redding?

Unlike cboy, I stay loyal to teams, not geographical locations. So when they (or I) move I still follow them.

I'm a bit unnerved that I must have let slip at some point that I live in Redding. I must have been stoned that night. I need to be more careful next time with all these stalkers about.
