Pens win 4-2..tie series
I thought it was a tremendously entertaining game, particularly the second period..that 4th Penguin goal was some kind of passing play. Malkin has continued to be a beast, something I didn't think would happen against Detroit..remember they shut him down last year. Marc-Andre Fleury is looking steady and the Red Wings aren't getting the lucky bounces like in the first 2 games.

Considering they have home ice, Detroit still has to be considered the favorite but suddenly the Wings look very beatable...wouldn't that be great?

1. The Wings looked TIRED at the end.

Seems to me the Pens are gaining momentum game by game while the Wings are getting worn out. Game 5 in Detroit is gonna be tough but it's definitely winnable. Last year is gone; the Pens are a different team this year and most importantly - aren't being outcoached.

Staal and Crosby finally scored. Malkin was incredible. Pens controlled the last 25 minutes of the game. :D

4th goal was a tic-tac-toe. Kunitz to Crosby to Kennedy - SCORE! :hi:

2. I noticed that at the end of game 3 also,
need to go see the replay of that 4th goal.

Pittsburgh's getting the secondary scoring that people outside of Pittsburgh didn't think they could. But we've seen them all through the playoffs where others have been stepping up.

Maxime Talbot has been the Pens most valuable player so far in these playoffs. He took one for the team (the assbeating he got from Dan Carcillo) in the Philly series and scored a couple of huge goals against Washington.

This isn't Michel Therrian's Pens anymore. We are a much more physical and aggressive team.

I'm not saying we're going to win the Cup, but we do look better than the Wings right now.

3. The Wings ARE tired - and they're missing their best player
The NHL did not do them any favors with the ridiculous scheduling. And Malkin should have been suspended for Game 3. Mind you, I don't AGREE with the rule, necessarily. But anyone who thinks they didn't exercise their discretion because it's Malkin should be laughed out of the room. If it had been any Wing, he'd have been gone.

I seriously hope the Wings come back and stick it to the Pens. When you have the better record, the scheduling is supposed to favor your team.

6. The scheduling IS favoring your team
both teams had to play 3 in 4 and Detroit's had home ice for every single playoff series....what more do you want?

7. If they can't handle the schedule because they're old and tired, too bad.

They have home ice - that's what they get for a better record. And if you want to go tit for tat on what rules should be enforced, I could really get worked up about the interference penalties the Wings commit that don't get called. Zetterberg is notorious for it.

The better team will win. Right now, the momentum is with the younger, faster, more inspired Pens.

:hi:

4. The Pens got big time home cooking in both games.
An offside goal, too many men for two shifts and no call, Lidstrom being crushed last night without touching the puck and quite a few others. The Pens certainly played well enough to win but they did get some help, as they have throughout the playoffs. We'll see what happens the rest of the way.

8. The home cooking works both ways so don't whine about it.
What's evident after Game 4 -

1. Pens are faster and when they control the pace, they win.

2. Bylsma is outcoaching Babcock.

3. Wings are hurting. They didn't even go after the puck last minute and a half of Game 4.

Both teams get help from the officials at home but ultimately, the best team wins. This has been the least penalized Finals in over 40 years. :hi:

10. bullshit

A. It's dubious whether there was offsides or not. It was bang-bang.

B. They had too many men for exactly 21 seconds... not "two shifts"... and it didn't result in any scoring chances for the Pens.

Finally:

In both games 1 and 2.. Hank Zetterberg covered the puck in the crease with his hand. These should have both resulted in penalty shots for the Pens. Both times it happened, the Wings had 2-1 leads and the outcome was in doubt.

Also

At the end of game 4, the hook on Kunitz when he broke in for a breakaway should have resulted in a goal being awarded to the Penguins, according to rule 57.4.

5. It's funny
Whether it's Football or Hockey the officials in their respective sports apparently have a hardon for Pittsburgh according to discussion forum posters. Non-calls, looking the other way, outright incorrect calls, even the scheduling. If you believed what you'd read on these boards you'd think that both the NFL and the NHL love Pittsburgh more than any other city on the planet and will do anything to insure that a team from the 'burgh wins. Blatant criminal collaboration from the league offices, and you've got to think some sort of bribery on the officiating level in order to get people to play ball with calling the games for Pittsburgh consistently. Hell maybe even blackmail. I wouldn't put it past the league offices to hold some official's families hostage during the series to make sure the referee has his head in the right place.

My question I guess is why do the NFL and NHL love Pittsburgh so much, and rightly so as we deserve to win everything, every year as we do since the fix is in...If they love us so much, why does MLB hate us? We have a tax in the city to bribe the NFL, NHL and MLB in order to make sure we win constantly, it just went up again last year...So why won't Baseball play ball, as it were?

oh and :sarcasm: in case someone reading this has had a recent head wound.
