There Is hope - The GOP may overplay their Hand
I noted the following at the Tagen Goddard web site:

"Strategists worry that overturning Roe would make abortion a top-tier political issue again, galvanizing liberals and moderates who have long assumed the issue was settled. At the same time, it would eliminate a major organizing principle of the evangelical movement that gained prominence in last year's elections"

This was excepted from an L. A. Time Article.

I am sorry but I do not know how to post the way to access the article in question.

Any way I think that the Only way abortion gets outlawed in this nation is if a super-majority of the populace (say 75 plus percent) wants it.

I also think that I have a better chance of hitting one of the Wrigley Field Scoreboard than the above happening (to my knowledge it has never been done).

Any way I though this might encourage some of you.

Thank you from a newbie.

Again I am sorry that I did not post the way to access the article.

1. I hope they do it...
I hope they pick a real whack job to fill O'Connor's newly vacated slot.

I hope talk about over turning Roe v Wade heats up.

I want these bastards to go down in flames.

4. But I don't think people will get really behind abortion rights
until women start dying again. Why, oh why do we have to fight the same battles all over again?

All are welcome and I am still on the learning curve. Maybe some real old timers here could give some lessons!

3. Here's the link!
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2005/07/04/by_winning_the_abortion_battle_gop_may_fracture.html

At the bottom of the article you'll see the word "link". If you click on
that, the article will become the focus of the page you're on. You can
then right click up on the address page and click "copy", this stores it
until you can post it. You can post it by right clicking again and click
on "paste". Hope my feeble explanation helps. :)

5. It's 3/4 of the states, not 3/4 of the people.
Any way I think that the Only way abortion gets outlawed in this nation is if a super-majority of the populace (say 75 plus percent) wants it.

Since the Xtian right has representation in state legislatures
far beyond its numbers, a Constitutional amemdment banning abortion
is all too likely. Every small red state would vote for it, and
there are a lot of those. Many Dems will cave in, since they know
who is counting the votes.

It could happen even faster. If ** gets a couple more Fundies on the
Supreme Court, they'll ban abortion and birth control from the bench.
Once they do that, it's gone forever. There is no possibility that we
could ever pass the Constitutional amendment that would then be needed
to restore reproductive freedom.

The right to choose hangs by a thread.

Allowing the RW to destroy that right, just to "wake people up",
would be unconscionable, because by the time they are "awake", we
would all be faced with a fait-acompli and be powerless to do
anything about it.
