1. Unrec'd
Setting aside the political biases in the title, the web link offers no information relating to the subject.

4. Perhaps it has nothing to do with genuine education.
However, it seems to have something to do either with a formal education system in North America, or with a joke that's like Landover Baptist, but much more elaborate. Either way, people who surf the internet might want to know what it's all about.

If you don't believe that the following is an exact quote from the website...
problematically named “The Free
Press”; its racist-sexist
globalizing Euro-American cultural
imperialism;

... then click on the link in the Original Post, and then search on that web-page for the course code "NEW424." Don't take my word for it. Check it out for yourself.

5. It's a little deep.
I'm grappling with transmission vs. constructivist models right now.

7. Suppose a student gets admitted to Harvard with transfer credits including NEW424Y1.
The student's professors at Harvard might see in the student's essays some reference to attitudes and ideas absorbed from NEW424Y1. Later, the student may graduate, and people who conduct job interviews might see only a great Ivy League degree, not recognizing that it consists of such stuff as NEW424Y1.

6. "the web link offers no information relating to the subject"
Edited on Sun Jul-11-10 08:34 PM by Boojatta
Of course, you can't use the link to look up some officially correct answer to my question.

The original message of this thread consists of:
  • thread title (i.e. my question)
  • course code
  • course title
  • course description
  • link to website

The link shows where I got the course code, course title, and course description from. The title of this thread is intended to spark a train of thought, and a discussion. It's for people who want to think about the course description. I didn't create the course description. I'm simply trying to understand it.

8. I wonder where they are.
Should I get the email address of whoever will be teaching that course in the fall, and send an email to ask where the non-racist, non-sexist, free presses of the world are located?
