Prison For Pair In Seattle Gay Pride Beating
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/04/042405beating.htm

Two men convicted of beating a gay Seattle man during last year's Pride celebration have been sentenced to just under a year jail.

Micah Painter, 23, a landscaper and personal trainer, was severely beaten and cut with a broken liquor bottle while leaving the Timberline a gay bar on Denny Way last June. (story)

Durng their trial, Samusenko's lawyer, Tom Olmstead, said that Painter was the real culprit. Olmstead claimed that Painter started the fight and that Samusenko was so drunk he physically could not have been the instigator. (story)

blame the victim, especially if s/he is a minority

1. "Well Judge... You See... It's Like This..."
"I saw him standing there and minding his own business, but then I attacked him. So obviouisly it was gay-panic that made me do it. I was preemptively defending myself from his unwanted sexual advances. It's all HIS FAULT for being gay."

2. I will withhold judgment until Samusenko is sentenced
It is possible the judge decided the other two were only a little to blame. If Samusenko gets a long sentence then that will make it more likely justice was served here.
