"Opposing Gay Unions With Sanity & a Smile"
:puke:

Headline in yesterday's Washington Post, and a very sympathetic fluff piece it was...

"Sanity", my ass...

:puke:

This is a guy to watch out for...

1. People who enshrine their own prejudices as divine, call them
"God" and worship them.

2. His whole argument, at least in this piece, is based on "It has
ALWAYS been done this way". That is his entire argument for not changing...

5. Someone better tell those 4th century Christian couples
that their same sex union is not the way it was always done.

Good Heavens, does this man have eyes? Have a look at those caskets that were made for funerals in Rome. There are caskets depicting two men as a married couple.

Can this man read? Let him read the Armenian documents (dating to as recently as the 7th century) that describe the wedding ceremony of same-sex couples, wherein Christ is invoked as "best man".

All this supposed "tradition" is nothing but 18th/ 19th century modernity. If it has any historic precedent, it is in emperor Augustus' attempt to regulate family life. And as such it has no place in a Christian society. Let's return to the good old days when marriage was between two spouses, sexual orientation irrelevant.

My Goodness, how can someone be so ignorant? Is he afraid of knowledge? Is he deliberately celebrating the regurgitation of a simplified outlook on the word? Does he know that God gave him a brain so he could USE it?

Sorry to rant so much - he's just a bit more than I could stomach at this time.

6. He is a bigot. People should call him that; it seems to pain him.
Good, because that is what he is...

3. From the article: "he is pleasantly, ruthlessly sane"
No, he just *appears* sane - anyone who wants to deny a group of people civil rights is obviously *not* sane, by my definition. "Ruthless" I could go with.....

14. I wrote a comment to the writter of the article.
If you read it again, notice the text that is not within quotation marks. Much of this must be considered to be her "take" on Brown. She actually replied to me and tried to say that she was as non-biased as she could be and since she is bi-sexual, though she is currently with a man, she understands how "wrong" denying same sex marriage really is. I didn't see any of her indignation reflected in her article. What a troll.

15. My letter to the Ombudsman...
Normally I'm an even keel kind of person, but I have to say...

She wept? Boo hoo.

How many thousands are being denied their rights? Of course they're not weeping, but the person who gave voice to the person who is attempting to make gays and lesbian second class citizens is someone for whom we should feel sorry because our anger hurt her feelings? I'm thinking no.

For someone who was in a relationship with a woman for 2 years, as the author is claiming, does not negate the fact that the article was used to solicit money to further his hatred and bigotry.

You'll have to forgive me if I don't have much sympathy for Ms. Hesse. As the saying goes, "lay down with dogs, wake up with fleas," and that she certainly has.

16. Bigot.
But hey, some of his best friends are gay. Still no reason given to oppose gay marriage beyond gut feelings and religion.
