NEW PALTZ — Jason West, the former Village of New Paltz mayor who presided over a series of controversial same-sex marriages in 2004, won back the village’s top post.
Village elections were held Tuesday from noon to 9 p.m. in the Fire Department Meeting Room at Village Hall on Plattekill Avenue.
West ran on the Cooperative party line against Deputy Mayor Jean Gallucci, who ran on the Village Unity line, according to village Treasurer Nancy Banco.
Also elected Tuesday were Sally Rhoads, Ariana Basco and Stewart Glenn, each to a village trustee position.
Rhoads ran on the One Community line, Basco ran on the Positive party line, and Glenn ran on the One Community line. Rhoads and Basco were elected to serve four-year terms, Glenn was elected to an unexpired two-year term, said Banco.
