Anti-gay tirade ruins family’s State Fair outing
http://www.dallasvoice.com/anti-gay-tirade-ruins-family%e2%80%99s-state-fair-outing-2-1091499.html

When Latisha Pennington and Dondi Morse of Haltom City took their 7-year-old daughter to the Texas State Fair last weekend, they just wanted to have a fun day seeing the animals and trying out the fair’s famed array of fried treats.

But the women said this week their plans were ruined when one vendor verbally gay-bashed them in front of their daughter, leaving the little girl in tears and forcing the family to cut their outing short.

Although Pennington acknowledges that it isn’t hard to look at her and know she is a lesbian, that same isn’t true for her partner. And the two of them weren’t doing anything that day to attract attention; they weren’t holding hands and they certainly weren’t kissing or engaging in any kind of public displays of affection.

“We were just there to have fun with our daughter,” Pennington said, adding that PDAs “just aren’t our style.”
But that wasn’t enough to ward off some unwanted attention from the men at the booth for the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America.

Pennington said she and Morse and their daughter had just left one of the animal buildings when she heard a man call out to them. He said, she recalled, “Hey, come here, come here. I got something for you. Got a couple of questions.”

1. If they go back, they should videotape the next encounter with that guy and put it online

With as many close-ups of his face as possible.

Anyone who does things like that deserves a public shaming.

2. They should file a f*cking lawsuit. It's a state-sponsored event, which makes what the vendor did..
illegal as hell. That group should be banned from all future state fairs. (as should any religious group, IMO)

FUCK I'm getting tired of trying to win "acceptance" from evil morons.

3. Do you think Rick Perry reject and denounce the behavior?
Remember the 2008 primaries? Everytime anybody remotely associated in any way with Hillary or Obama said something stupid the media assclowns would demand Hillary or Obama "reject and denounce" the offensive remarks and cut off all association with the slanderer.

It was like some sort of exorcism. "Will you reject and denounce Samantha Power? Huh! Huh! Will you reject and denounce her?!"

4. Tulsa is having their State Fair now.
They have a "salvation booth." It is that kinda creepy shit that keeps me away from many events which have "local color." Seems to me the 'local color' is usually a disgusting puce.

5. Why are people so fucking MEAN?
What is wrong with some people? The fact that the assholes pretend to be religious is ironic icing on the cake. Their JESUS sure wouldn't behave like that.

Christ, if you don't like it, don't DO it. See? Problem solved.

Live, and let live.

I think the "Gay Day At The State Fair" is a great idea--I hope thousands show up and give Mister Holy Roller and his pals a little what-for.

Pennington suggested that fair officials should remove the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America and their booth from the fair. Sue Gooding, a spokeswoman for fair officials, said Thursday, Oct. 6, that while the group wouldn’t be asked to leave the fair, such behavior violates fair policy and will not be tolerated.

“That’s not the way we expect our vendors to act,” Gooding said, adding that vendors are expected to stay in their booths and should not call people over.

She said that Pound had gone to the booth already to have a discussion with the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship after the incident was reported, letting them know that

“We’re not going to put up with this.”

Gooding said that while “the conversation went well,” Pound may decide to have a second conversation with the group before this weekend, when some 200 people have indicated on the “Gay Day at the State Fair” Facebook group page that they will be attending the fair on Saturday, Oct. 8.

6. K+R
And may HNA smack the fuck out of these people.

I've been fortunate enough to encounter and challenge some of these assholes in person. I just wish that they'd have to face their assholishness daily.

If I could be paid for it, I'd do it full time.

8. I'm Not Even Pro-Child And I Think This Sucks...
I hope this couple sues the fucking vendor and the State Fair Commission and wins big. There was no mistake for this kind of thing. The couple sounds like they wanted to give their little girl a fun day at the fair and then the vendor had to be an asshole. Man I am so damn sick of the homohatred in this country. And most of the time that is what it is--homohatred.

11. why weren't they holding hands or kissing like a hetero couple?
if they are gonna get abused for being gay they may as well just be themselves even if it freaks out the religious conservatives. only brutes are deranged by seeing 2 people of the same sex show affection for each other. were i there i would have berated the small minded worker for making a child cry and for insulting people because of their sexuality. honestly as a "straight" man i can say that i am not at all bothered or disturbed to see two men or two women holding hands and kissing.... if i see happy in love people the happieness sort of rubs off on me too.....
