Cameron threat to dock some UK aid to anti-gay nations
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15511081

David Cameron has threatened to withhold UK aid from governments that do not reform legislation banning homosexuality.

The UK prime minister said he raised the issue with some of the states involved at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth, Australia.

Human rights reform in the Commonwealth was one issue that leaders failed to reach agreement on at the summit.

Mr Cameron says those receiving UK aid should "adhere to proper human rights".

1. Good for him
I don't imagine our "fierce advocate" will do anything similar.

6. I get the impression he's fairly socially liberal
unlike the grass roots of his party. Of course, I still violently disgree with him on economic issues.

I think he and Nick Clegg probably agree on most things with each other - both are socially liberal with neo-liberal views on economics. Neither entirely agree with the grass roots of their parties, as most lib dems are liberal lefties, while most tories are right wing conservatives.

There's clearly a niche for a socially liberal, economically neo-liberal party; as well as the leaderships of all the three main parties, a lot of people working in the city would support it (working with people from all over the world tends to make them socially liberal). Of course, hardly anyone else in the country would vote for it so without PR it's a non-starter.

5. Too bad we don't have even TALK this strong coming out of the White House
What we get instead is sending troops to help aid the Government forces of Uganda.
