Reds' Golec sorry for gay ref slur

Golec was told by Adelaide United on Monday his contract would be terminated if he transgressed again.

The 21-year-old used Twitter to attack A-League referee Ben Williams while he was controlling Melbourne Victory's home match against Brisbane Roar on Saturday night.

Williams made several controversial calls in the 2-2 draw, including sending off two Victory players.

Golec initially tweeted "Ben Williams worst referee ever" before a subsequent homophobic message attacked Williams.

Seems to me the only thing he is sorry about is that his supposedly private comment was public. I don't care if it was meant to be private or not just shows his mentality about Homosexuals.

People have been getting very creative as of late hiding their homophobia and it either flies over heterosexuals (not all but so fucking many) heads or they inwardly feel the same way. If I sound pissed it's because I am! We are not immune from it anywhere including here.

3. You're too focused on the bad things people do...
Focus on the good.

I mean, come on now, there's....well...um...yeah, got nothing.

I'm tired of both the apologies and the constant excuses that people make for them.

"Oh, it's just one prayer." "Oh, he didn't mean it like that." "Oh, he's not homophobic, you're just overly sensitive."

And no one ever comes forward and says, "Last night I was in a bar and made a comment I should not have made and I would like to apologize for it." unless they were caught in the act. Never sorry till someone reports on it.

Yeah, I'm weary of it. And I'm very weary of others condoning the behavior.

4. Welcome to what women go through and have since the beginning of time.
Hell for us, just being a woman is generally seemingly reason enough to be slurred against, we don't even have to piss anyone off.

Of course it isn't right, but it will never stop. People cuss, cussing comes from cursing, and cursing is pretty much the idea of demonizing something not demonic. All groups suffer from becoming a slur at some point in time. And when the day arrives we accept all manner of differences warmly, then being normal will be cursed and become a cuss.

As a woman who has experienced what you're focusing on now all her life, I say embrace it. For example, women most commonly are called bitches, right? Well I simply smile REAL big and say, "THANK YOU! I know I am Beautiful, Intelligent, Talented, Clever, and Honest. When are you going to be?" and walk away.

There is so much to be frustrated and tired about, perhaps words shouldn't be one of the them, imo. Someone else's words are a reflection on the speaker, not homosexuals, not even the person whose being dissed.

8. Yet another apology. This time Director Brett Ratner.
Q: So you get this entire group of actors together — what was rehearsal like?

A: Rehearsal? What’s that? Rehearsal’s for fags. Rehearsal. Not much. A lot of prep, preparation, complex action sequences, visual effects. Storyboards, animatics. The process was I made the actors stick to the script. And they wanted to, because the script was great.

9. Best comment in the article:
"Everyone who knows me knows that I don’t have a prejudiced bone in my body."

Of course not. They never do. Just ask them, they'll tell you.

10. I see that excuse used here, usually under similar circumstances.
When the "right" says something like that it is "laughable in its stupidity," but when the "left" says the same, "it is a credit to them and their credibility." :eyes:

11. 'Who's Brett Ratner', would be my retort. Honestly never heard of him before.
And don't want to, from this point forward.

13. Empty apologies, yes
I'd rather people stop being homophobic assholes. Instead we get empty apologies after they've engaged in vicious homophobia, just so they can save face and keep their jobs.
