http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/01/010906waRts.htmThe state legislator who cast the deciding vote in last year's 25 to 24 rejection of a bill that would have prohibited discrimination in jobs, housing and insurance said Monday he has changed his position and will vote in favor of the bill when it comes up again this year.
Sen. Bill Finkbeiner R-Kirkland's announcement puts him at odds with the rest of the GOP in the Senate.
"I've had a number of conversations over the past year that have led me to more fully understand the level of discrimination against gays and lesbians, and I now find it is both appropriate and necessary for the state to make it clear that this is not acceptable," Finkbeiner said in a written statement.
The House passed the bill 61-37, with six Republicans joining 55 Democrats to pass it. But it lost in the Senate, where Two Democrats, Jim Hargrove and Tim Sheldon, joined 23 Republicans in defeating the bill. (story)
