I've seen this one before, but today I was struck about the "confession" discussion. Strikes me odd on the second take. Confession implies some guilt. These folks didn't confess to being gay, they confessed to misleading their partners. They told their partners they were gay. You know what I mean....I think the difference is important.

:hi:

2. I see your point--question, is this show about gay people who got
married to heteros who didn't know they were marrying a gay guy or gal?

4. I know the pressures that force a lotof people into it
)mixed marriages) I have very little sympathy for them. What a horrible thing to do to somebody, especially after children are in the picture.I cannot fathom not knowing if oneself is gay or not. I do know a few in the much older generation, and it was more widespread in the post war generation. But now? very little reason. just pack up and get out of that red state and start being true to yourself.

5. Exactly what happens when you force people to stay in the closet.
The result: sex in forest preserves, bathhouses, etc... then picking up an STD and bringing it home. This is not to say out gay men aren't guilty of this too, but it only makes it more terrible when one is lying (to himself/his family) about his sexual orientation.

6. Be Yourself
People should be themselves, not try to force themselves to be a whole other person to make other people happy. When you're pretending to be something you're not, NO ONE is going to be happy, including yourself, and it is a rather cruel thing to do to your wife and children. It's sad that we have a society that makes people feel that they have to resort to such things to be regarded as "normal".
