"This is the only naked man that will ever be in my bedroom."
Melissa Etheridge, clutching her Oscar and reveling in her win for Best Song backstage.

8. If I were into women, I would SO be into her
She has the kind of self-confidence and positive attitude that I find very attractive. I do have most of her albums downloaded from iTunes, at least, including a great accoustic version of "Come To My Window." One of my favorites.

4. Wow, a positive Oscar discussion...
can't seem to find anyone with any positive to say about the awards last night except for Al Gore talk. IMO, the international flavor made it an especially interesting night.

5. I watched the entire thing
I don't care who thinks it's stupid. It's glitzy, glam and pablum for the masses, but who cares. It's still fun to hear the speeches and watch their faces. I thought Ellen was great, she has so much class! Will Smith's little boy was adorable and oh man could you see his daddy's attitude in him when he flubbed! Of course Abigail Breslin was charming, and it's just fun to watch. I watched last years, the first time I watched start to finish, mostly because I was rooting for Larry McMurtry with Brokeback Mtn. I found myself enjoying the rest of it too. It's like one night a year to indulge in fluff, who cares? Plus there is usually some political jokes and remarks inside thankyou speeches that are fun to watch for.

My problem this year is I haven't seen most of the movies! Very frustrating!

7. I really enjoyed it . I thought Melissa's....
and Forest Whitaker's speeches were fantastic. And it was so great to see Alan Arkin win, although I would not have been upset if Eddie won.

I also enjoyed Ennio Marcone giving his speech in Italian. It felt really international last night.

9. How about an Oscars Film Festival?
It would be an awesome idea to hold a festival in the week or ten days before the awards ceremony, where several theaters showed nominated films and films with nominated participants. The cost, though, the bother of getting permissions, the advertising nightmare.... they would need to increase the time between the announcing of nominees and the awards, I think.
