Court Orders NYU To Pay Gay Composer's Widower $2 Million
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/01/013105nyuSuit.htm

Composer Leonard Bernstein's surviving partner has won a $2 million dollar wrongful dismissal suit from New York University Medical Center.

A Manhattan jury deliberated less than 30 minutes before finding that Mark Taylor had been the subject of discrimination because he is gay.

Taylor had been the center's director of external affairs before being fired in 1997. Among his duties was writing speeches for NYU's president and then medical department chair Saul Farber.

1. Finally a little ray of hope in this crazy world of hate and intolerance.

2. !?
I didn't know Bernstein was gay.... Lordy, how the hell did I miss that little factoid?

That aside, even if you're gay, you'll always get justice in your favor if you're rich (or, in this case, well-known). There's another thread here from 365gay.com about a guy who killed a gay man, stuffed his body into a suitcase, and was found guilty of manslaughter and not murder.

Bernstein was gay? Man..... I never knew that.....

3. It was pretty well known within his professional circle
But not widely publicized. I recall a moment of surprise (but not shock) when I read that item myself.

He was kinda hot when he was younger, though. ;-)
