That will be the headlines on right wing radio for a while to come. Of course, heterosexuals make perfect parents. Mom, Dad, and the dog, Skipper.

Lesbian Mom, Two Others Plead In Child Torture Case
by The Associated Press

Posted: June 26, 2008 - 5:00 pm ET

(Compton, California) Three women have pleaded not guilty to child abuse and other charges involving a 5-year-old boy who was burned, starved and beaten.

A Superior Court commissioner received the pleas in an abuse case against the boy's mother, 24-year-old Starkeisha Brown; her live-in girlfriend Krystal Matthews, 21, and LaTanya Jones, 26, identified by authorities as a baby sitter.

The boy was hospitalized June 9 after being found ill and in the care of a homeless stranger outside a Los Angeles County child services office in Compton.

1. People who abuse their children should be sterilized so they won't produce any more victims.
Doesn't matter if they're gay or straight. Meanwhile, I fully expect that they'll receive excellent reviews for their eerily lifelike performance in the opening scene of their medium-security prison drama club production of Macbeth.

4. Yep. Completely agree.
There are people who should never, ever be parents. If those people abuse their children, they should be sterlized so they will never reproduce. Needless to say, their children should be taken from them and placed in a home where they will NOT be abused and will be given the love they deserve.

3. Leave gay parents alone. Leave us ALONE!!!!
>>>That will be the headlines on right wing radio for a while to come. Of course, heterosexuals make perfect parents. Mom, Dad, and the dog, Skipper.>>>

Seriously, this would be a bit of a stretch, even in this political climate. They're BAD parents, not "gay" parents.

Plus, near as one can tell, ( the story does not specify otherwise) the child was conceived the 'old fashioned way', i.e. heterosexually.

So even their status as "gay" is a bit suspect.

8. I know some gay parents...
And they are every bit as loving as their heterosexual counterparts. Unfortunately, one bad parent gives the thousand of good parents the same black eye in the "right" world.

9. But the right wing media will paint them as gay parents, not bad parents
It is all in the framing, and the right wing media have become the only framers in town.

5. Gay parents are no better or worse than straight parents
Sexual orientation has no relationship to character or parenting skills.

7. In the "real" world, yes...
In the right-wing world? You demonize gays any way you can. Whether it be true or false. You can always print a retraction, but the damage has been done.

6. Gay people are a certain percentage of the population, good and bad.
Just like straight people. But you're right, they will likely try to use stories like this to prove some unprovable fantasy.

These women need to be put in prison for a very long time.

11. Straight People Should Not be Parents. They're Unsuitable
In fact, I'd go so far as to wager that 95% (or more) of the parents who beat and murder their children are straight.

Take all the kids away NOW!

and just in case...

:sarcasm:
