Conservative Politicians Rejected In Gay Marriage Suit

The Maryland Court of Appeals has turned down a bid by eight state legislators and a county clerk who oppose same-sex marriage to present arguments in a challenge to the state's ban on gay marriage.

The court gave no reason for its denial. The decision means the case, brought by same-sex couples denied marriage licenses, will now return to Baltimore City Circuit Court.

The case was brought to a halt while the conservative group sought to enter the suit.
