I can pay taxes for a War I hate, but I can't get health care?
This is my story. I pay taxes. The US uses them to wage war against people who have
never done anything to me or my country. Meanwhile, my family has health care needs.

INSURANCE DENIED. I applied to State Farm for a college student health insurance policy for my 17 yr old daughter. They refused to give her a policy because she has ADHD.
The policy wouldn't have included prescription coverage so why refuse her?
She is very healthy and runs several miles a day. She doesn't smoke or drink.
I am shopping around for insurance but it is a nightmare.

Myself, I haven't had health insurance since 2003,. but my mother has medicare and has had it for about 20 years.

1. But you'd better be damn sure that those Dems don't put a government bureaucrat . . .
Between your family and health care. Who knows what might happen? You're much better off with insurance company bureaucrats.

3. conversation with Insurance agent today while applying
Talking with the State Famr Agent, who has insured numerous cars (and house) for me over the years,
even when my teenager wrecked one.

Me: Gee, if I lived in New Zealand or Australia like my cousins, I wouldn't be worrying about this,
they have national health care and free access.

Him: Oh, there are 18 month long waits to get surgery blah blah blah in England and Canada.

meanwhile, he's typing in my information and my daughters information into some little form.
He's telling me what a good deal I'm going to get and how much coverage I can get.

Then, he asks if she has been treated for any conditions.

I say: ADHD.

He types that in and then he says:

Oh, they won't give her a policy.

ME: I guess I WOULD be better off in New Zealand or Australia, woudn't I?

End of conversation.

5. That means millions
of children aren't going to be covered. ADHD is a prevalent diagnosis, isn't it?

6. my state has a "high risk" insurance pool - that is my next hope
so I will be calling them on Monday.

I already called another agent who finds ins policies, and that was her recommendation.

Had I known that some schools/Universities included health insurance, I might have sent my
daughter to a different school. I just didn't think she was ready for a university this year.

My state just began the high risk insurance pool as of January of this year.
I am hopeful.
