Back from the Dead [Social Security privatization]

Plans to resuscitate President Bush's stone-cold proposal to turn Social Security from a guaranteed insurance program into a patchwork of private savings accounts already are in the works. All it will take, says Grover Norquist, conservative strategist extraordinaire, is the election of another five conservative Republican senators -- enough to surmount procedural roadblocks by Democrats or those tremulous Republican moderates who would try to preserve the nation's most successful and best-loved government program.

The stock market is more like the lottery or a casino game lately than ever. Why would anyone want to go there?

3. Hey there's 80 cents under my sofa cushion
they haven't grabbed up yet, maybe we should just have a house to house search so they can
grab out any loose change they have gotten to yet.

4. As the country's elders start stocking up on torches and pitchforks...
Someone better point out to Norquist that his castle isn't impregnable either. His Frankengovernment isn't unassailable.

7. If we give directions to his home in Weston, Mass that would be bad, but
if we just publish the address asking folks to write to Grover, that can't be bad can it?

5. The brutalist agenda rumbles forward another foot.
(1) Build up the military, harden them in foreign wars.
(2) Use foreign wars to build international hatred, feed the climate of fear.
(3) Torture prisoners and create martyrs, plant the seeds of future terror.
(4) Place every citizen under surveillance, let no aspect of their lives be unwatched.
(5) Remove basic rights and freedoms, buttress the police state.
(6) Control the media, let no fact be unspun.
(7) Secure the borders and restrict travel, ensure there is no escape.
(8) Destroy healthcare and social welfare, drive the masses to desperation.
(9) Constrain wages, create an underclass.
(10) Destroy the electoral system, ensure one's grip on power.
(11) Eviscerate education, prevent an informed citizenry.
(12) Equate the State with Divine Will, make dissent equivalent to heresy.

Here's the Twelve Step Program for the New Amerikan Reich.

6. Why do all these "initiatives" remind me of death throes?
One proposal after another--gay marriage, flag burning, inheritance tax, "stay the course,", now SS again: looks to me as if Rove is preparing a "do nothing" congressional election campaign.

9. Hey check out how Bush spends your taxes
You can't get your social security, we have to buy candy, splenda and panty hose instead.

$14 million in federal faith-based money goes to Pat Robertson

Pat Robertson charity Operation Blessing received 14 million from Bush
They spent 2.5 million on Ensure and Splenda
10.4 million on candy on panty hose

Operation Blessing, was raking in wads of faith-based money from the Bush Administration.
Charles Henderson, a Presbyterian minister who heads up Christianity.about.com, recently pointed out that in 2001 Operation Blessing made some awfully strange purchases. The organization that prides itself on helping the poor and hungry in third world countries spent more than $2.5 million on Ensure, a dietary supplement and Splenda, a no calorie sweetener -- and more than $10.4 million on candy and panty hose.
