New glasses allow blind soldier to 'see' with his tongue
A soldier blinded in battle has become the first member of the armed forces to test a special pair of glasses which allow him to 'see' using his tongue.
Lance Corporal Craig Lundberg, who was blinded in a grenade attack in Basra, is trying the glasses which turn pictures into electrical impulses that are felt on the tongue.

The different sensations mean he can distinguish between light and dark and negotiate his way around objects.

1. Is this the one from Wicab?
I can't get the page to load, but if this is the device called a Brain Port from Wicab I have great hope for it. I've been following both this and the one for balance since 2001. They were invented in the US but are still not approved by the FDA for sale here. I think the one for sight is just now being submitted for approval. I thought I read where last year Wicab went before the house committee for how to help injured soldiers with this and the other one. The balance device I believe is being tested for TBI at Walter Reed now.
