NARAL Statement on this meeting...

http://www.prochoiceamerica.org/media/press-releases/2010/pr11292010_boehner-terry.html

Washington, D.C. – Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, called reports of extremist Randall Terry’s ability to score a meeting with incoming Speaker John Boehner’s staff yet another example of the influence anti-choice extremists will have in a Boehner-led House of Representatives.

Terry sent a message to his supporters confirming the meeting, which had been reported by many blogs, including Right Wing Watch and Think Progress.

“In the Boehner-led House, having a miles-long rap sheet calling for violence against abortion providers and their patients gets you an invitation to meet with the incoming speaker’s staff,” Keenan said. “The Randall Terry meeting signifies that, when it comes to listening to the most extreme elements of the anti-choice movement, Boehner is all ears.”

After Dr. George Tiller was shot to death inside his church in Kansas, Terry, the founder of Operation Rescue, referred to Dr. Tiller as a “mass murderer” and said that, “horrifically, he reaped what he sowed.”

Keenan also said that, sadly, the meeting could not be seen as a huge surprise, given that Boehner has voted anti-choice 142 times out of 142 opportunities. Boehner even voted eight times against clinic protection for women and their doctors.

The Terry episode comes on the heels of the National Right to Life Committee’s demand for notorious anti-choice extremist Rep. Joe Pitts (R-Pa.) to be given control over the Energy and Commerce Committee’s health subcommittee. And last week, Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-Calif.) promised to undermine reproductive-health programs if his colleagues select him to lead the powerful Appropriations Committee.

Keenan said NARAL Pro-Choice America has an online resource outlining the expected anti-choice attacks in the New Congress: http://www.prochoiceamerica.org/get-involved/issue-campaigns/speaker-boehner.html

7. Damn, Everything Really, all of it, the kit and caboodle....
that is quite likely the most simplistic and dumb reply I have come across in at least the last several weeks.

How's that for respect? I think it conveys about the proper amount without getting into rule violations.

9. Looks like it breaks 2 rules, from the alert page...
Insensitive (bigotry, hate, ridicule, stereotyping) toward certain groups of people.
When discussing certain topics -- especially those relating to each human being's unique personal identity -- DU members have a responsibility to show greater understanding and sensitivity. To help promote a welcoming atmosphere for all of our members, the moderators are empowered to remove any post that they deem insensitive. Such topics include, but are not limited to: race or ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity, religious believers or non-believers, Jews or Judaism, Muslims or Islam, geographic region or place of origin, disability (mental or physical), weight or other physical characteristics, or age. Moderators may also remove any post using insensitive terminology (eg: 'cocksucker,' 'pink tutu,' 'bitch,' 'whore,' 'retard,' etc.).

Disrespectful nicknames, crude insults, or right-wing smears against Democrats.
Democratic Underground welcomes a wide range of people from the left half of the political spectrum, and our members are welcome to post messages either criticizing or defending Democrats. We permit any substantive criticism of President Obama and Democrats -- even harsh criticism that may not seem constructive -- provided it comes from a liberal perspective. However, we do not permit the following: Referring to Democrats using disrespectful nicknames (eg: Calling President Obama "Barry"); Crude insults against Democrats (eg: "Fuck Harry Reid"); Insults, attacks, or baseless partisan smears against Democrats that one is likely to find on right-wing blogs or talk radio (eg: Secret Muslim, No birth certificate).
Graphic content.

2. And we certainly can't expect Obama to stand up to Boehner on this issue. Just the opposite.

4. THAT is the scariest part of this story. How much "compromise" will the President be willing to
offer on THIS issue.

If things keep going like this, there will be no constituency left that will vote for him in 2012.

10. I am afraid that POTUS is trying to "make amends"
to the Pukes over his comment that pregnancy, for a child the ages of his pre-pubescent daughters, would be a punishment.

Aside from the FACT that no amends need be made for speaking the TRUTH,

I still can't comprehend that ANYONE could think that sentencing a child to involuntary servitude is NOT punishment.

Except people who use their children, like Palin.
