Words fail me. No wonder roadside zoos keep popping up everywhere. The way the world is going, animal rights WILL progress forward, whether the U.S. wants them to or not. And years from now, people will look back at us and take us for monsters. And they should.

And some more:

1. This is tragic
 With everything we know about the Great Apes, there is no way we should be breeding them in captivity. They deserve freedom and self-determination.

4. Yes. Some will compare dogs and cats to this,
but they are completely different. Cats have been domesticated for 5000 years and dogs for twice that. Never in this lifetime will we get the greate apes domesticated. And we shouldn't.

5. They also require habitat
THERE'S the greatest tragedy; millions of species are swiftly going extinct worldwide, and soon the ONLY place to see these amazing creatures will be in zoos! Habitat preservation is one of the most important issues for all those who care about the welfare of animals.

On the plus side; at least this site requires licensing and permits. Many do not. Apes, big cats, and many other wild animals should never be sold to private individuals who aren't in it for the purposes of conservation! I have a friend who is involved in a cheetah recovery program; she's expecting a cub soon, but the cub WON'T be a "pet"; she'll be used in breeding programs aimed at maintaining genetic diversity with the hope of saving the species.

2. Unfortunately, we've already got one...
He's in the White House, and going to cost us a hell of a lot more than $65,000!
