Our Trip to "Home Goods" Yesterday
Stinky the Clown bought MORE espresso cups. First of all, we don't need more espresso cups; and furthermore, these look decidedly like CLOWN cups. Tell me if I'm wrong:

Come on. Who are colorful polka-dotted espresso cups really made for? Clowns! But the more I insisted, the more he wanted them, claiming that I had no room to talk, simply because I was purchasing this elegant work of art:

Being the frugal one in the family, I hesitated, but kept going back to it. "You want the frog?" asked Stinky. "It could hold things for my piano students -- the newsletters and notes I forget to give them," I said, trying to make it sound like something practical I'd been needing.

"I'm not opposed to it," he said on my third trip back to look at it. "It's a waste of money," I said, trying to talk myself out of it. "You could use your business account," pushed the enabler.

So I did. I used my business account to buy a frog.

And therefore, Stinky considers himself justified in buying polka-dotted clown cups.

(I had to remind him about the Snoopy lights just to stay one ahead.)

By the way, the profile does kinda remind me of Stinky...

(I mean that in the NICEST way, of course!!)

1. ahem-- the clown got the better end of the deal, methinks....

But then my ex had an unquenchable jones for carved wooden chickens, so I might be somewhat biased. Your piano students will probably come regard the frog as an, um, teaching assistant. Yeah, that's the ticket. "Mr. Frog has some sheet music for you dear, why don't you go see if you can read it while the adults have a nice espresso in the kitchen...." The polka dots are a bit too cheerful for my taste, though.

2. Polka dotted cups are Minnie Mouse cups not clown cups
Therefore, he should send them to me immediately.

7. Oh. So you think everybody's happy?
Easy for you to say. You don't have to live with a FROG in a butler suit living in your foyer! Do you? See? I thought not.

Frogs ........ sheesh.

11. I'll have frogs more places than my foyer if it doesn't stop raining
pretty soon.....

We've recieved over 4" of rain since Thursday. that's 1/3 of the annual average in 4 freaking days!!

and it rained all but 5 days in August

when we got up today it was 62 degrees, the high was 63 and it's dropping again. the average for today is 90

yup, it's gonna be a plauge of frogs, the locusts will freaking drown

PS did Ernesto drench ya?

18. Hey, what's wrong with frogs?
I have a stuffed frog on my bed. It's snuggled up to the stuffed lizard and next to the stuffed tarantula.

10. Yeah, easy for you to say!
Here's Stinky's idea for our next home renovation:

Here's a picture from his last family reunion:

And I'm getting grief over an artistic sculpture whose subject happens to be a valet -- a valet who just happens to be amphibious?

Sheeesh!!!

13. Oh My Gawd ......
Second picture ..... front row ....... 1st and 2nd on the right .... That's Uncle Nunzio and Aunt Graziana! They're the ones I told you about. Very innovative. Uncle Nunzio's the one who invented that nitrogen-charged ersatz seltzer bottle that can squirt to the back row of **any** audience.

Where'd you get that picture? I haven't seen it in **ages**!

15. To be serious for a moment .....
.... gack ... did I just say that?

I have to confess. I've always wanted some sort of whimsical character in the entry to the house. My fantasy would be a real carousel horse, but we have neither the space nor the cost of one; they're *very* pricey. Homegoods has always had a few of the type of thing that Mr Frog is ..... a life size chef, a Betty Boop, oversized rabbits, that sort of thing. To be sure, Froggy was all Sparkly's idea, but I was a real pushover and offered nothng but encouragement to her to buy it.

Yeah ... I guess I really am an enabler ........

16. Awww... they're both so cute!!
Like Dot Warner levels of cute.

I actually like both cups and Frog, though they would not be at home in my house and so would regretfully be allowed to wait for their proper home. (They'd swear nastily at the gargoyles, dragons and the architectural drawings....) But they're really great, both.

I like the cups, and I can't think of anything that might improve a grumpy day than a cheery cup for a nice hot espresso. And the Frog's expression reminds me of Mr. Toad from Wind in the Willows. Just a little bit of devil, ready to get to work.

17. This guy has some cute relatives in Alabama.
One holds potpourri and another some dried flowers in the bathroom.

"Did you ever read of the frog who dreamed of being a king, and became one?"
