I started with these

Put the drumsticks in a pot

Then boil them. Save the water after boiling them.

While they're boiling, dice your veggies. I used celery, carrots, onions, and a couple of garlic cloves. Mrs bearfan doesn't like a lot of garlic but she can't taste it anyway so I made how I like it.

Strip the meat off of the drumsticks after they cool off. I took out most of the skin.

Put your veggies and chicken back in the pot. Add enough chicken broth to cover everything. Simmer for about an hour. Skim most of the fat off the top. The next day you can get all the fat off after it hardens on top.

I always cook the noodles in a seperate pot so they don't make the chicken soup too starchy. Everybody can add as many noodles as they want to their own bowl.

I did the dishes too. Homemade chicken noodle soup does help break colds. If you eat it real hot it will make you sweat and help to break your fever.

2. Is this subliminal suggestion?
Are you only teaching us how to MAKE stock or are you "suggesting" what stock to BUY. LOL, I see an awful lot of H-E-B in your photos. j/k

When I, or my husband, has a cold, we both go with French Onion soup. Those magic onions in the hot broth will really open up your sinuses. Plus, if he's making soup, I don't trust him to get out the fat, so onion soup works best. I love the toasted bread and gooey cheese. I need my comfort food.

With the chicken soup I use a ton of onions and I like dumplings, so I make lots of extra broth and like you with the noodles, I do the dumplings in a separate pot of the soup broth with a generous amount of the onions from the soup.

I hope your wife is feeling better soon.

4. You're forgiven, lol..................
Don't even look at prices (did I say that??), always go H-E-B before Walmart, if you have a choice.

Personally, I don't like shopping in H-E-B but that's my husband's first choice. Actually, here their top shelf is a bit higher than the other supermarkets and being 4'11", it's really annoying, especially when I have to stop by the housewares first and get a longhandled something, to poke an item and catch it as it falls AT me. Really not fun, when it's a 2 litre Pepsi bottle and my catchers mask is at home. hahahaha

5. That's really sweet of you. She's a lucky lady.
One question.. do the vermicelli noodles turn out like the ones in (and I hate to ask this) Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup? I've been trying to make something similar to those, without success, but haven't yet tried vermicelli.

6. They get mushy too fast.
These are an off brand that's 5 packages for a $1.00. I had these in the cabinet but normally I use the Mrs Grass good ones. They don't turn into mush and disintegrate that fast. I still cook them in a seperate pot snd let everybody add their own to their bowl of soup. If I put them all in the soup pot they make it too starchy and they soak up too much broth too.

9. For something a little different...
You may want to try roasting the chicken and vegetables before putting it in the canned broth. I use a half water, canned broth mixture and the roast veggies and chickens adds a richer more complex flavor. I find this makes it a little less greasy too. It takes longer but if you want a different flavor it's something to try. I also put in a lot of roast garlic.

15. It's pretty good sized.
I always use it over the sink because there isn't a gigantic amount of counter space. That way too I can scrape some stuff off to the garbage disposal on the left side of the sink after chopping it.

16. Sweating just sort of softens them up and brings out aroma
For the soup I just throw them in raw and let them simmer.
