What's on the menu for today?
I'm going for quick and easy but I am making a Pie. Although Sweet Potato would be the way to go I don't feel like shopping so will have to rely on the pantry. I'm making Chocolate/Coconut/Pecan Pie. So rich, so sweet and so Good! I use the basic Pecan Pie recipe but add coconut and chocolate chips to the mix.

For accompaniments I think we'll just get a Pizza or maybe some fried chicken. Here in the PNW we have Ezell's Fried Chicken which is pretty much the best chicken out there IMO. I'm lucky enough to have one of their joints about 5 miles down the road.

We're opening the Champagne as soon as PA is called for Obama. I have a few in the fridge in the event it's a long night.

Screw the Diet---GOBAMA!

2. So what's a taco roll?
Is it like lobster rolls but with taco stuff on a weird New England bun?

Or is it taco stuff rolled like a jelly roll in lavash or huge tortillas

Or is it Taco filling on a Kaiser Roll

Dish it up BB....What's the scoop on the taco roll...I know nothing.

3. You start with those Pillsbury Crescent rolls:
Cook up beef with taco seasoning.

Arrange unrolled crescent rolls on a pizza pan, points facing out, in a circle.

Spoon meat filling onto the rolls, fold rolls over.

Bake until done, serve with salsa, guac, sour cream, etc.

4. Oh Yum
I make that with tuna fish and cheese. Those crescent rolls are one of those convenience products that I just love to pieces.

5. GMTA
Kroger's deli fried chicken + slaw here. Wish we had your good chicken joint in Oregon! I don't feel like missing any fun on DU or TV tonight.

6. Ezells is pretty spectacular
Oprah actually flys it in for herself. They also make fried livers or gizzards (regular or spicy) which is a rare treat.

7. Duck Breast Provencal
with oven "duckie" fries, home made applesauce, sugar snap peas in pods (I froze them earlier in the year) and red lettuce salad with red onion, tomato, and English cucumber in pesto vinaigrette. No dessert because I just finished my sweet potato pie this morning at breakfast. The applesauce will have to do for my sweet treat today. Oh, dinner rolls from the grocery.

Last night I had sushi and sweet potato pie after i got home from the polls. Then, I burped and passed out on the couch. Woke up to watch Obama's acceptance speech and passed out again. Mr. Pup didn't bother me at all. I even slept in my clothes! Wha (!)--am I a day late on this thread?

8. I made a sort of summer thing
Saag's chicken brats on buns with kraut etc. And some homemade macaroni salad and green salad on the side.

I did mix some lowfat yogurt with the mayo to bring down the calories of the mac salad. I had to give up on low fat mayos since the flavor is always disappointing. The yogurt gave it a nice low level tangy taste. I'll be doing this from now on we liked it so much.

Your pecan pie sounds devilishly divine!
