I can't afford an Artisan or the bigger mixers. I'd love to work towards getting one at some point though.

1. That's a good price for a used Kitchenaid.
Edited on Sun Mar-01-09 11:41 AM by Shakespeare
And I believe that's the same size as (and may even be) the Artisan model. I have the slightly smaller 4.5 quart Classic, and it handles everything I throw at it just fine.

4. That's a Great Price
Go visit the seller, turn it on and let the engine run for a few minutes. If there are no odd smells or smoke, go for it.

7. Grab it if it's not already gone
It's a good mixer and a great price.

My own is the bottom of the line tilt head, in heavy use for 14 years without a single complaint.

A KitchenAid is one of those things you never knew you needed until you got it.

8. I feel like a kid at christmastime !
I'm picking it up tomorrow. I am just thrilled. I've used a betty crocker 3 speed hand mixer for about 9 years now and I just know it's going to croak

I have been searching craigslist and ebay for a long time.

I can't wait to try it out :)

thanks !

21. The last image is the most appropriate.
DH got me my KA a few years ago as a surprise and went out to a local store and picked up several attachments. He's an engineer and wanted to see "how they worked." Nice. Now I'm hooked and your post is certainly no help LOL. To put in in perspective, DH and I rarely eat ice cream, but I picked up the ice cream bowl anyway. Mostly because I have always wanted to try low-sugar ice creams (no artificial sweeteners, either). Most ice cream is too sweet for me, so I have a harebrained idea I can make a less sugary one.

Either way, those &^%$#$ attachments are so evil, yet so very enticing. :banghead:

10. Go for it, girl!
I got mine off craigslist for $80 bucks and it's been great to have. I'd been using a hand mixer, too, and didn't think I wanted one but at this price, how can you not?

Great catch, babe! :hi:

(P.S. Just be thankful Stinky didn't post the one with racing stripes or flames or whatever! )

Now that first ever made is a real counter monster. Puts the newer ones into a bit of perspective.

18. my kitchenaid is a 3C model....
....at least 60 years old. I got it at an estate sale. It runs like a top! That should be reassuring to potential owners of kitchenaid.

22. For a KitchenAid? Forget it. No way.

Send me the link and I'll buy it myself to save someone else the loss. Because that's the kind of guy I am.

Seriously, if you can get a KA for $75 bucks, do it. Even if you didn't use it you could probably resell it easily for twice that amount.

I bought mine in - I don't know, 1994? - paid $159 for it. Maybe $179? Now they're probably $250.

got an email from the seller last night telling me she'd sold it to someone else.

That'll teach me to get excited about something :(

26. I love mine and I didn't pay $75.00 - it pays for itself the first time you use it...
...because it is stand alone - it frees your hands and your time - just put it on the speed you want and set your timer and go on with your life for a couple of minutes.

I couldn't imagine not having it.
