1. I don't see the point of the green and red stuff stuck in the cups.

2. You really oughtta fill those with
brussels sprouts swimming in cheese sauce. Sour cream and garlic mashed potatoes would work too.

3. I would rather use the microwave.
Bacon draped on the outside of small squat juice glasses or double-shot whiskey glasses. Then set them, mouth side down, on layers of paper towel for the drippings. I think you would get the right crispiness a lot faster.

4. Ummm...
"This all took three hours and my house filled with smoke, but it was worth it. Be sure to put a cookie sheet with a rim below the cooking bacon in the oven, there was a lot of dripping fat and I saw a few flames. Watch your oven carefully!"

Other than that, this would go well with some teriyaki bacon I saw.

7. That would be a knockout breakfast or brunch dish filled with some creamy scrambled eggs.
Of course, since it's bacon, I would enjoy it filled with just about anything.

Three hours in the oven sounds a little excessive to me, but I don't cook bacon in the oven.

10. Wow - I am so making those salami cups!
Edited on Mon Dec-28-09 10:31 PM by pengillian101
Thanks for the recipe - yummy looking. The recipe says "high in protein and calcium" but forgot to mention the high in fat. :-)

I don't care - I'm making them! I actually have all the ingredients on hand.

Edit to add recipe
Grilled Salami Cups

Serves: 4
Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 10 mins
Nutritional Value: These cups are high in protein and calcium.
Ingredients
12 slices Hungarian salami, skin removed
2/3 cup cream cheese
2 tbsp chives, chopped
2 tbsp parsley, chopped
1 tbsp lemon juice
salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method
Press the salami slices into shallow cake tins. Bake them in a 200C oven until they start to bubble-about five minutes. Then remove and cool. Combine the rest of the ingredients and place a spoonful of mixture into each shell.

Serving Suggestion: while we have given you a simple option above, other ingredients like diced semi dried tomatoes or olives are also great additions.

The meat I have is called summer sausage, but as near as I can tell, it's the same thing as hard salami, or close enough anyway.

11. Someone made salami "crackers" on the Food Network...
baked tham and then topped them. I didn't know salami would do this.

12. Almost is right!
Bacon has a long way to go to beat salami in this house, anyway.
