extension cords for speakers?
Can someone tell me if extension cords for computer speakers exist. I'd like to run speakers from the computer in my office into my living room so that I can listen to radio on-line. I'd probably need a cord close to fifty feet.
Thanks for your help.

1. Not sure about that, and I wonder the same
But there are devices out there that will TRANSMIT the audio to a boombox or other radio device.

Here is an http://www.pcs-electronics.com/en/products.php?sub=pc_fm_trans#Pci%20max">example, but there a varity of options. I have seen them form around $50 or $75, but lost track of where I saw it originally.

2. Go to radio shack
All you need is an extension with 3.5mm connectors (1 male, 1 female) You'll probably have to buy a few--I don't know what lengths them come in.

3. Not sure how far you can run extensions
I'm concerned that there is insufficient power to push the audio, let's say, 100 feet (or even 50).

4. True
But if they're powered speakers it could be done.

5. powered speakers
sorry if this question seems dumb, but I know nothing about most things technical. What are powered speakers? I presume my current speakers are not, since they came with the computer--a very cheap one at that.

7. If your speakers have their own power source
that is, if you have to plug them into the wall, they're powered. Powered speakers boost the audio signal from your computer--passive speakers just plug into your computer.
