I let my kitty sleep with me last night
She normally loves to sharpen her claws on my boxsprings, but I relented and let her into my bedroom last night.
Poor thing has malignant cancer, and I am noticing she is crying more when trying to go to the bathroom or at other odd times.
She was first diagnosed when the first tumor was removed in January of 2005, so she has lasted much longer than the vet thought.
Since I began thinking time might finally be growing shorter, I wanted her close to me...damn the boxsprings.
I am going to allow her to sleep with me again tonight. As long as she does not go for the boxsprings and wake me up every 15 minutes, I can tolerate it.
Damn, she has been the best pet/companion I have ever had my entire life. Why do we have to lose our loved ones...human as well as animals?

1. Sleep with your dear beloved kitty and cherish every moment you have
together. :loveya:

It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.

It's never fair or right for our loved ones to pass beyond before us.

2. It might help if you put a stool by the bed so she doesn't have to jump
up or down. My senior cat really appreciates being able to step down gradually rather than having to jump from the bed to the floor and vice versa. I also keep a waterglass for him by the bed and a blanket folded with a heating pad (turned to lowest setting) in between the folds. He seems to be much more cold natured than he used to be and wants to be on my lap all the time. The heating pad is good for when I can't provide him with a lap or am not in the bed sleeping. I'm sending positive energy and healing to your dear kitty.

3. Sad about your cat. Wonderful you're letting her be close to you.
I'm always afraid my 18yo cat is going to get cancer. I hope your kitty recovers some how.

4. I've been there. It's so hard
I let my late kitty Peewee (best friend ever) sleep with me every night before he passed. He would wake me up quite a lot at night, but I didn't care. It's a very bittersweet time right now; you're so grateful for every remaining moment that you have with her, but you're also sick at heart, knowing that there won't be many more of them.

Hang in there, Digit. :loveya:

5. Been there...
...particularly with gravely ill cats.

Treasure this time.

6. one of my cats has cancer .... and the vet gives him lactulose
for easier trips to the catbox. It seems to work, he doesn't cry anymore when he goes.
