Larry finds a cool spot
close to water. I guess the metal dog bowls are cooler than any other place. And he prefers drinking out of the dogs' dishes anyway. (Larry is 18 years old, btw...looking good for his age)

1. He's a cutie! I really feel for the animals today
It's 90 F. here and I don't know what the humidity is. Cindy is hanging in there, but Murphy is really having a hard time with it. They were just to the vet on Friday for a check up. Murphy has been panting day and night for three days now. We've had the A/C on but it doesn't seem to help much :-(.

2. Well, right now it's 95 here with a heat index of 107.
Unfortunately, for all of Larry's cuteness, tomorrow morning we are going to have to have his littermate, Moe, put to sleep. Moe has been diabetic for about 7 years. He was doing wonderfully on L insulin, beautifully regulated, no problems. Then L was discontinued and we had to start using PZI. This meant starting all over again and we've never managed good regulation since.

Things have been dicey in the last 9 months with kidney issues and this afternoon Moe went blind. Very sudden and the poor boy is disoriented, doesn't know where he is, couldn't find his food dish after stepping over it.

So tonight he won't get his insulin and he'll be allowed a plate of the dry food he loves and hasn't been able to have in 7 years. And tomorrow morning we'll say goodbye.

6. So sorry about Moe:(
Heat is horrible for the older furbabys, especially when there's kidney problems. Hugs for you and Moe, and hope Larry will be alright afterwards. When we had to let Willy Bear go last year, his littermate Moggy didn't seem to notice, but he's gotten a lot more aloof since. And it's getting closer to the time to let him pass, also.
