No, no, no, and NO!
YOU DO NOT LIVE HERE! :banghead:

Recently I was away from home for about 6 days. Wasn't sure when my sitter would be able to visit, so I left the window open enough to give the cats a portal.
I think this is one of the reasons I was forgiven so quickly when I returned...their regular schedule wasn't interrupted too much.

My next door neighbors have three cats- Miss Kitty, a brown tabby female, Tweeker (a small black-and-white tomcat- whose status they ARE going to change at the clinic in September :grr:), and Abby, a beautiful little kitten with a 'ticked' coat and a sweet face.

The territory between the two houses seems to be shared without too much hassle. I think that while I was gone, the cats took advantage of the situation (as teenagers will do when the 'rents are outta town) and had 'company'.

So I get home from work this morning. Wimsey comes sauntering to meet me; he's getting very good about this. Riktor teleports in from behind the house, and D'Artagnan comes trotting like a cat who has business. Such sweet boys I have...wait a minute.

Black and white...together in one cat...that's Tweeker! "Mew?" anklewind anklewind...and Abby! "Hello, pretty Abby..." skritch skritch
Strikes me that this happened yesterday, too...

:wow: MY NEIGHBOR'S CATS ARE COMING TO GREET ME WHEN I GET HOME FROM WORK. :yoiks:

I haven't put food out for them and I don't allow them inside now that I'm home...but they seem to want to change their address.

Help...:hide:

3. Lots of luck with that.
Telling a cat who has decided that you are "home" is next to impossible. You are doing it right, not feeding them, but stopping them from greeting you when you get home ought to be interesting. Good luck.

Hey, how come there is still no kitty gif? :hi:

6. I just don't want to 'tease' them...
...or give them a mixed message.

I do like the little guys, honest! And I am aware of the 'honor' being accorded.

Just Wimsey joined the clowder partly by invitation from one of my own cats and partly from deciding his own house was not up to standard*.
I don't think my neighbors would appreciate my pre-empting their cats; they ARE rather fond of them and do take care of them.

* Wimsey (at 6 months old) was expected to catch his dinner. Once he was no longer little and cute, they lost interest in him. The kids did NOT know how to handle a cat; grabbing, squeezing, using the tail as a handle, etc. They came and got him twice when he'd fled to my house- after that they took the hint and just left him there. Nothing was ever said on either side. I knew he was 'my' cat when I found myself getting Cestex for this poor, skinny, starving adolescent boy. First time I put some food down for him, he took a deep smell of it. His paws did the little 'happy dance', and I think if a cat could burst into tears of gratitude, he would have done so.
I made 'The Appointment' with the Sainted Vet right then and there.
