My Doggie Is No More
Had to put him down yesterday. Hurts a lot. Big lovable yellow lab.

Somehow he got into a bad way with his blood. His white count was 63,000, when normal is 12,000 - 15,000. His red count was around half of normal.

His blood work right after Memorial Day was normal. So something hit him fast and hard. Almost seems like leukemia.

Anyway, for the last week he wasn't eating as much and started wheezing. It got worse the last 2 days.

They did an xray and he had so much fluid in his pulmonary cavity that you couldn't even see his heart on the film. The vet finally came out and said if we did nothing, he probably wouldn't make it through the weekend.

She showed me his gums. They were turning purple. That's how oxygen deprived he was getting.

So, we didn't want him to suffer. Had to let him go.

I cry for a few minutes every hour or so. I'm gonna miss him. He was my best pal.

1. I'm so sorry for your loss
 I hope the good memories you have will supplant the sadness and worry of the last few days....and that those memories will make you smile when you remember his life.

13. His Name Was Barney
When he got all excitable, i would tell "put your bullet back in your pocket Barney".

He was named after Barney Fife.

14. I am so sorry for you. Yellow Labs are the best-almost human friends
we can have. I care for an old, wonderful yellow Lab. After years of medical problems, I know her day will come soon. I dread it. I know I will have lost one of my best friends. My sympathy to you.

Just know that both of you were better for having each other. They don't die if we keep them alive in our memories.

16. RIP Barney
And  to you.

I'm so so sorry for your loss. Animals are not only family members, they're often our best family members.

If there's a world beyond this one, Barney will be there with you. If there isn't, well, at least your grief will stop.
