Eek! I put a deposit down on a house yesterday!!!
So, I'm freaking out. Life circumstances have forced my hand, and I needed to either find a new place to rent or actually buy an investment of my own. I found a great deal and decided to buy my first home!

I didn't check "the stars" though, and now I'm a little worried. Was 1/3/10 a good day for a Leo to sign on the dotted line...? Too late now either way, but I'm just curious (like a cat)! ;)

And yes, Obama's $8,000 incentive DID play a role! :)

4. Congratulations!
I wish you happiness and comfort in your new home.

You asked about the stars. The only thing I know is that we are still in Mercury retrograde, which is generally a bad time to start things. It means that details may be missed in the paperwork and that you might have to redo the contract or you might have some similar confusion.

Good luck.

10. Thanks!
My realtor is also a lawyer, so I'm counting on him to help with the details. I will indeed triple-check things, though! I wish I could wait for a more astrologically-friendly time, but circumstances have made that not possible! :(

So, I'm just relying on the fates to be in my corner! :)

5. Congratulations!
I hope you find peace and happiness and lots of joy. I'm sure that's what you'll bring to your neighborhood, so may it be given back three-fold. :toast:

Yeah, I figure that no matter what the timing, a house is a house. It's a big scary deal, but I feel it's taking my life in a whole new positive direction.

I feel a little uneasy doing it, but I'd feel just as uneasy NOT doing it, so...

:woohoo: Houses often happen when life circumstances force hands...they're a big deal and sometimes we need a shove to dive in!

Be prepared to sign more papers than you thought possible on closing day. Seriously...writer's cramp is possible!

14. Yep, life definiely "pushed" me on this one.
But without that push, I would NEVER have made the leap, and it is well past time. So, everything happens for a reason, I guess. :)

15. Have the sellers accepted your offer yet?
That whole dickering thing can be a real pain in some cases...

:banghead:

It sounds like you have tried to do this the right way--working with a Realtor, the use of a lawyer (even if it IS also the realtor) and all the thought you put into you decision. Once you get that offer accepted your next big challenge is getting the financing squared way. Expect lots of paperwork, and don't be surprised if you have to give the lender the SAME papers more than once. It will pass.

This buying thing is really creepy stuff the first time around, but it does feel mighty good once you own the house. My prediction is you are gonna do just fine, and love your new house!

16. Thanks for the advice.
And actually, it is a brand new house (not constructed yet) so no dickering w/a seller.

To afford the house (even though it's very cheap) I have to rent one of the rooms, but in this town that is really easy to do. Plus, I'm already doing that in my current situation. And if I ever don't have a renter, I have enough savings to cover their portion for several months.

At any rate, if I don't make this move, I might never own a home. Unless I get married, which I'm sure I someday will, but who knows when. I had to take this chance or else have no investments of my own.

Wish me luck!!! :)
