Edited on Wed Aug-11-10 04:31 AM by OneGrassRoot
Online, offline....people are pissed, cranky, indignant...you name it.

It feels like one of those time a switch was flipped, and it was rather instantly flipped into pure anger mode yesterday (Tuesday, 8/10).

People are saying really hurtful things to one another.

:(

:grouphug:

Edit to add that I'm not a fan of repressing anger, it just doesn't seem that these eruptions are the kind to lead to any sort of healing -- it's more of a lashing out rather than anything constructive. Likely a lot of people are going to feel bad about how they've behaved, rather than feel a sense of release. I don't know...just observing and blabbering away early this morning.

1. I saw it too, OGR.
One of my oldest friends (with whom I recently reconnected after not communicating with her since high school) went on a tear last night on Facebook about the supposed "mosque" related to Ground Zero and how Christians are so horribly persecuted by Moslems throughout the world. She posted 4 or 5 extremely vicious attacks on Moslems and how "ungodly" the world is; she was screaming at the top of her lungs through the keyboard. :( I really need to think about how I want to handle this; we may no longer be Facebook friends if she continues this. I have Moslem friends on Facebook, and it would break my heart if they would somehow see one of these horrible postings.

I'm sorry that you're also seeing it. :(

(On edit: However, I now see that my spelling is a variant, even though I didn't know it. :D )

19. That's so sad, Dream
I also have a lot of old high school friends from Orange County that have befriended me on Facebook and they are posting their ignorance quite often, but it's mostly things like how they support Palin, Glen Beck or Conservatives. I cringed each time, fearing that if it gets any worse like what you're describing, I'm going to have to block them or challenge them. I don't know many Muslims, but those emails I always get from people explaining how Muslim people are born and raised to kill Americans drive me through the roof. I challenge half of them and delete the others. I was taught when I was young not to believe everything I heard and also not to repeat things I didn't know to be true, and I know I'm not alone. What happened to that teaching for the adults? Why are we always thrown so much unsubstantiated gossip and then asked our view (or judgment) on it? People in this country need to grow up, but unfortunately, nothing's enticing them to do that. Whenever people asked me my opinion on Tiger Woods or Lindsey Lohan, I'd always say something like, "I think it's unfortunately they are going through this. Other than that, it's none of my business."

 to you, my friend.

21. Thanks, PL.
I was so happy to reestablish the connection with this person after being out of touch for over 30 years. I'm very disappointed. The biggest thing that I've realized after what happened last night is that I'm so glad to have moved away from my hometown after I graduated from high school. I miss having family around, but there are far more pros than cons to that decision.

I had mentioned in this group before that I really didn't have any desire to reconnect with my high school friends for this very reason. When I received her invitation, I hoped that I'd be wrong. However, exactly what I feared has been happening. The experience that I described in my original post here was the worst so far, but there have been other things also.

Oh well, I'm so glad that I have all of you; you keep me sane. :loveya:

26. So funny, the simple act of using Gloria (Sally Struthers) as my profile pic...

completely shifted the energy (for me, and I believe others).

It shifted the whole diss of "tree-huggin', do-gooder) to a positive thing that everyone can relate to. Even right-wingers, in hindsight, can see Mike and Gloria were strong and wise and brave, in contrast to -- bless him -- the Archie character.

I say bless him because Carol O'Connor was brilliant in that role; a complete contrast from his actual personality.

 IHAD!

4. Definitely!
I saw it yesterday when, in a quiet library, someone stood up and just yelled at others to turn off their music. He just couldn't take the din that you hear from others' earphones, I guess. That is tense.

There is the story of the Jet Blue flight attendant who just had had enough. He verbally exploded over the PA system and then left via the emergency chute, after grabbing two beers.

8. You beat me to it, OGR--I was coming here with the intent to post the same thing
I am absolutely reeling at the level of vitriol (I believe it's reached a new high) in GD because of the Gibbs thing. Whether you believe he was wrong or right to say what he did doesn't matter--it's the amount of rage being expressed that's stunning. It's like everyone suddenly decided to blow at the same time, and the issue they're furious about is secondary. :scared:

McDonald's (did you see the chick wiggin' out over McNuggets, for cryin' out loud?!), airplanes...people are blowing all over!

Hey, since we often feel volcanoes are erupting somehow synergistically with the intensity taking place in and on the Earth, maybe we're all blowing to relieve pressure from a volcano that might otherwise be erupting?

12. And one of my good friends got fired yesterday
Actually if you remember OceanSpirit from here, it was her. She's been out on disability for a long time because of her back, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how our old workplace (the one I quit in '07) managed to legally get rid of her while she's under medical care, but they did it. She's pissed, but relieved at the same time--if that makes any sense.

I like your idea about the volcanoes. Wasn't there an earthquake near New Zealand yesterday, with a small tsunami wave (about 9 inches I think I read)? Rock and roll, baby...

14. The traveling tsquare to Pluto is it
Never before in my life have I seen such planetary pressure. REMEMBER, THE PLANETS ARE NOT TO BLAME, they are symbolic of our
energies. And ,the Saturn opp. to Uranus is ending, but it is still "creating" great political division

It is both what you say. Long pent-up repressed passions projected onto others

When Mars got involved about 10 days ago, that was a vent

the big one comes 12/10 when Mars joins Pluto, remember, it's all junk coming out

some people have too much and it's doing them in. I'm seeing it all around me. Lot's of death, sickness, heart attacks,

on the other hand, as I have said, those who are attacking this courageously, are being quite victorious

Pluto has "had it" (we have had it) with suppressing our passions, they want OUT and will not take no for an answer at this time
It should all cool it's heels somewhat next month.

.... man, I couldjust stand up here at work and scream my head off (like that dude in the library). I feel full of rage and just hateful which is so not me. I can be a pisshead, of course, but rageful? No, not me. Hateful? Nope. Not me either.

What's with the energies? (I skim GD because it's just full of that same kind of energy.)

... seems like crime always soars during heatwaves because people just can't take it. I wonder if this summer's incessant heatwaves on top of the still-crappy economic climate (which has people stressed anyway) are pushing people to the edge?

18. It's sure taking its toll on me, Myrina
Edited on Wed Aug-11-10 10:03 AM by Kookaburra
The heat and not having a job and not even getting call backs on the jobs I apply for -- it's all too much. I'm taking odd jobs (walking dogs, running errands, helping people pack and organize their stuff) just to make ends meet, because unemployment just isn't enough to cover it all.

And yesterday, after my brother had made yet another irresponsible mess, and waited until the very last minute to tell me about it and then expected me to fix it, I completely lost it. I told him he had better grow up and now, because I was finished with him, and he could clean up his own mess. Then I slammed out of their house. Of course that didn't stop them from calling me every 10 minutes, and he had the nerve to call and yell at ME. I hung up on him -- and didn't take the rest of his calls.

But in spite of it all, I still feel hopeful and positive about the future.

16. For about a month or so, I've had these weird little "rage-lets"--for a very short time (about
3-5 seconds) I'll feel like telling everyone around me to eat shit, fuck off, and die in a fire. I bite my lip and it passes, like a short storm of some kind. Now I can put it in some perspective, I guess. Only happens a few times a week, and feels somehow different from my own anger, if that makes any sense.

I'm having trouble with anger, too, over the past several days. I wondered if it was mood swings associated with my now-advanced age. Nope. It's just Panties in a Wad Syndrome, which I've had since (roughly) 1960. ;-)

This is common. It touches a place deep within that is connected to the collective. It's both personal and mass. The more rage we have stored, the worse.

Two more days: moon venus mars and saturn all together opp. Jupiter and uranus.

All SIX will be squaring Pluto at the same time

(pun intended!) Those are the very words I just told my daughter on the phone in regards to the gas that was pumped into her body for her surgical procedure yesterday! "keep walking around, it will pass!!!" LOL
I will take this opportunity to thank all of you for your prayers, light and support through "my storm" She had her hysterectomy and they removed the fibroid tumors, and left her with her ovaries. (laporiscopically...sp?) All through this period of turmoil everyone is experiencing, her situation, and my health have been causing more turmoil that I ever thought I could handle, but worrying about her took my mind off of my problems to concentrate my energy on her. She is home from the hospital as of this afternoon after having the surgery yesterday. Everything went smoothly and she's AOK !!!!(except for the gas!!!) LOL I think this was my relief valve in this instance....so I guess something GREAT happening and extreme blissful happiness, can work in the same way in reverse ????? LOVE EVERYBODY today, so I'll stay away from the rest of DU, at least for today!

For the most part, I stay out of GD, GDP, read only the headlines or first post in LBN and skim some of the other forums. So, I haven't seen a doctor and just have to self-medicate. It's gotten better with time, and I've been using Earth Clinic a lot as well as the book "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" :)

This has lasted a little over a week and that's not as bad as the first time this summer when it lasted several weeks. Sure, this still isn't over, but other than the stomach upset problems, it doesn't feel nearly as bad as that first time. I just have to do more to keep my immune system up. I'm good at dispensing healing advice, but lousy at taking it myself ;)

I'm guessing that since I've been mostly a hermit for this and last week (other than late-night trips to the grocery store) I've also limited my exposure to people in general. I don't want to spread whatever this is around any more than I have to, either. No sense having angry sick people abounding, too! :P
