"The new phone book is here! The new phone book is here!!"
Edited on Mon Dec-31-07 07:36 PM by Dover
"I'm a SOMEBODY!"...

Lol! That line from Steve Martin's movie, The Jerk, is so indicative to me of the kind of happy, nervous anticipation of the coming new year and all the various "2007 Top 10" lists and predictions for 2008 that seem to come out of the woodwork during this transition time. A look back, a look forward. Who were we, who are we, where are we going, what has changed, what needs to change...

We await '08 with bated breath!

Here's one more astrological prediction site: A January Sun Sign Forecast from Susan Miller. Please feel free to add your own 'new phone book' topic or list.

1. I love Susan Miller and Steve Martin
So do I watch "The Jerk" or read my January horoscope?

(Since I already read her horoscope, I'm going to have to go with the Steve Martin movie.)

2. I had never read Susan's monthly forecasts before.
I just generally don't bother with sun sign predictions.

But a friend was very excited about Susan Miller's January forecast and emailed it to me. I liked what I read. My friend is a Cancer sun sign and is very optimistic about Susan's suggestion that she might finally find a working partnership this month! Hope so...we will see.

And watching anything with Steve Martin in it sounds like a great way to ring in the New Year!

3. Here's a list of 2008 predictions from Alvin Toffler, a futurist and author of Future Shock,
War And Anti-War,Third Wave, and Revolutionary Wealth: How It Will Be Created And How It Will Change Our Lives, among many others.

I don't see anything on the list we haven't discussed in this forum, but thought I'd post it anyway.
Here are a few things from the list:

- The war "will continue to be a major issue (in the elections). Plus the whole issue of our relationship to Islam."

- "The issue of religion is still going to be a big one -- whether it's political or social."

- "We're going to see bureaucracies falling on their behinds. We're going to see the breakdown of our business institutions -- companies, government agencies, fail or collapse. We're headed for a period of institutional Katrinas."

- "I think the term 'systemic' is going to come into use. People will realize that the problems we have are not individual governments, businesses or industries, but systemic."

- "I think we're going to see a continuation of what's happening (in popular culture) -- additional products with user-generated value."

- "We're moving in the direction of desktop manufacturing."

4. Well, apparently you are all listless.
No interesting Top Tens? No funny resolutions? No predictions?

....sigh :yoiks:

I am, for better or worse, a listFULL person. Here's another silly sun sign horrorscope site:

5. that site was really interesting
a bit of my scope read "Sometimes you take so long to think about things that you make your friends over in Taurus seem like a kid on Red Bull and rollerblades in the mall. I will concede that at the moment (early in the year) you are still working out all the negotiable points with someone close to you, and they seem to have a viewpoint that's difficult to pin down."

My Taurus husband and I are reorganizing our house, creating a study out of what used to be a dining room, and he has been so frustrated with me because I take too long (in his opinion) to decide things. He is indeed a kid on Red Bull and rollerblades. Has been for years.

I actually really like Susan Miller. I find her writing style very accessible. I really miss the annual paperback book she used to produce.

7. Welcome Callie McAllie!!! Oh goodie, a new voice!
Don't know if you've already been welcomed in another thread, but if not, let me be the first!

Sounds like you are a long time Susan Miller fan. I'll bet the annual book was popular.
I don't normally read sun sign stuff, but hers looks very thorough. I'll have to see how they turn out for the month.

Hope you'll stick around and share!

In this entertaining afternoon, learn about all the big planetary trends that will affect you in the year ahead 2008. Hear about your sign, your rising sign and the signs of those nearest and dearest to you.
You will come away with a very specific idea of how to approach the year ahead and which months would be best to plan your biggest moves. This session will be highly interactive, so you will have lots of opportunities to ask questions.
If you enjoy reading your forecast for the month ahead on Astrology Zone®, imagine what a benefit it will be to know a whole year of planetary trends at once! You will be able to plan your year better, and if one of your goals is not to be in one of your beneficial areas of your chart, learn how to build your strategy so that you CAN move ahead in that area of your life anyway.
The group will be kept deliberately small-this is no massive "town hall" event. It will take place in a beautiful, intimate setting, the Cooper Union for Advancement of Science and Art at Astor Place on 8th Street in New York City, convenient to all local transportation.

Additionally, every attendee will receive a free gift bag worth more than $100, including an astrological T-shirt, designed by Sophomore™. (At the time of registration you will be asked which astrological sign and size shirt you'd like to get when you come.)
One lucky attendee will win a personal reading from me! You will receive a confirmation email as proof of payment when your payment is processed.
To keep the cost of the tickets reasonable for such a small group, this event will be partially underwritten by Hands-On Mobile™, the largest provider of digital content in the United States. Astrology Zone® thanks Hands-On Mobile™ for their kind sponsorship of this exciting event!

KRIPALU CENTER FOR YOGA AND HEALTH
In the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts (in Tanglewood)
Weekend Workshop with Susan Miller

"The Astrology of Love"
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 29 to SUNDAY, MARCH 2, 2008

Here is your opportunity to learn about your natal horoscope and what it says about your approach to love and relationships. The class begins with a discussion of various planetary placements that would influence one's choice of a romantic partner. Then, you will look back into past relationships, to see if you can discover specific patterns that you might want to change in the future. You will also look ahead to upcoming trends for love that you can look forward to using to your advantage. This class, which runs from Friday evening through Sunday noon, will deliberately be kept small so that you'll have an opportunity to learn as much as possible about your chart. You will also learn about the astrological wheel, how astrology "works" and, assuming that you are able to order your natal chart ahead of time, you can discover what your chart says about your approach to romance. Learning about yourself will help you develop a clear vision of the person you'd like to meet and the kinds of places and situations where that's most likely to happen. If you've never attended a class with me before, they are always lively and fun, because I always invite so much class participation. Note: It is strongly recommended that you have your astrological chart prepared prior to the program. Go to www.mypersonalhoroscope.com to order.

Optional: You may want to order the brand new book, My Personal Horoscope Relationship book, called "The Two of Us" from the same site (www.mypersonalhoroscope.com) if you are curious about the compatibility between you and your sweetheart. Each book in the My Personal Horoscope series is done for each customer, using your unique individual birth information. Also recommend reading: "Planets and Possibilities" by Susan Miller (Warner Books).
