Astrology Software for MAC
Hey everyone,
I thought some of you fellow astrologers might be able to help me out. I've been using Solar Fire for PC for about the last 10 years, but now have a Mac. I was told that I would need to run VirtualPC (and the Apple store guy told me it might not be"robust" in this format) or, his recommendation was to run a program for Macs called Boot Camp. This is where you have to reboot into the PC operating system in order to run the program. I didn't really like the idea of having to run one or the other, since during the course of the day I like to jump on my Solar Fire several times.

So this made me start researching Astrology software actually made for Macs. The one that seems the best is TimeCycles by Io, but it's really expensive and seems to lack some of the features of Solar Fire. Does anyone know anything about this software?

Right now I'm having to switch computers (and my old PC laptop is on its last legs) to do astrology and I'm suffering from withdrawal so I know I have to do something soon! Any ideas appreciated!
:hi:

1. I have a mac and I use Kairon.
It i fairly inexpensive, and I really love it. You can download it free and try it before buying.
Unfortunately for the rest of you, it is not available for PC. The full license plus the atlas is $85.

4. Hi PinkTiger! I'm sorry I missed your reply way back when...I do appreciate it!
As I said below, I decided to stick w/ SolarFire by loading Parallels so I can run Windows and OS X at the same time. Nothing I looked at gave me all the goodies I was used to...anyway, I think I'm also getting old and set in my ways.

8. Wow... thanks for that.
I've had to launch system 9 on my Powerbook G4, which is rather a pain whenever I occasionally do transits, etc. I just couldn't bring myself to budget the new version, and I agree, it doesn't or didn't have the same features as Solar Fire.

So, thanks to you, I can mess around with Kairon for at least 30 launches before deciding to use it. I'll probably will register and use it. I hope it's the replacement program for the occasional astrologer that I am.

:hi: Thanks a lot.

2. I went in with a friend and we bought the Io Timecycles thing. Not that good!
You can go to google when you are online and download two, three or more freebies that are just as good!

I also have used "Astro" software - it came inside a book I puirchsed for $ 22 bucks. I think it ran on both PC and the Mac

3. Thanks, truedelphi. I've decided to go with loading Parallels so I can stick
with Solar Fire...nothing else had the same capabilities, and I've gotten hooked on it. Parallels allows you to run Windows and OS X at the same time, without rebooting. It sounds cool, but I haven't actually done it yet, since I'm a little leery of trying to learn how to use it. Semi-luddite here I guess!

you can indeed run Windows in your machine... just remember you are running windows... with all that this implies

The advantage of running this on bootcamp is that if you loaded Leopard, it comes with the OS, so yes you will have to go out of the Mac OS and into the WINDOWS OS.

Of course you could also get VM Ware or Parallels which allows you to run BOTH Operating Systems at the same time.

You MAY try to download cross over, and TEST if your program will run under cross over.

It is not one of the major programs, but if it runs, that is your best bet.

Oh and welcome to mac...

(And I have yet to get XP but I think I will soon... a couple programs I'd like to run that will not play well with cross over)
