It's raining
It's the beginning of October and we've had 3 days of rain this week. Now you non-West Coasters may not think much of this but here we have two seasons: rainy - which is supposed to start at the end of November - and dry. We've had a very cool summer and the crops are just starting to come in. However, yesterday's rain flattened half the cornstalks, and my plans to make sun-dried cherry tomatoes like I did last year are dashed.

I did harvest enough tomatoes to put up 13 pints today, not counting the eating ones.

1. We still can't get things to ripen here. I have plants filled
with green tomatoes. It has been a difficult growing season to say the least.

2. Pull out the whole plants
and hang them upside-down in the garage.
