Death stalks the Michigan garden.

Freeze tonight -- 27 to 31 forecast for my neighborhood.

Oh well, I've got next to nothing left anyway. I'll dash out tonight to pick a couple of remaining tomatoes and a last bouquet of dahlias and marigolds.

Adios to the 2011 growing season. It was a weird one for me.

1. I am going to put a row cover over our garden of greens and beans

We live near the lake and might not have a hard freeze.

2. I still have some nasturtiums blooming, which i planted

really late. It was a pleasure to see them. Everything else is pretty much done. Otherwise, many of my perennials did really, really well. It was kind of strange given all the rain and wide temperature swings.

3. We still have nasturtiums, marigolds, nicotiana

and quite a few roses blooming here in central Maryland. And snow and sleet falling on them , at the moment. Nicotiana is really tough.

4. It is likely to stalk Raleigh gardens tonight or tomorrow night!

We may just escape....brought in some potted flowers and peppers

5. I brought my smaller pots inside a few nights ago and have been putting them out every morning and

taking them in every night. I must admit, it's getting OLD. But, we are predicted to have two more cold nights (tonight and tomorrow) and then a week of over-40 overnights, so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Alas, my lovely nasturtiums, marigolds, cosmos, morning glories and moonflowers have breathed their last. :(

Bought some pansies to replace some of them, hoping they will go all winter as they have in past years (and this is supposed to be a mild El Nino winter, right? :) )
