Moles!!! #&*(#*$&O *#&$(U&# N*&*&*(#*$&& ^###@#!!!
Help! We have moles tearing up our yard. I've tried stuff to kill grubs in the lawn, which I understand to be their food of choice. We've tamped down their tunnels. We've bought all kinds of mole deterrents. Nothing works. Can some one recommend somethng? I'm not averse to killing the critters either by now.

2. Traps
Don't they have traps for moles? Here in southern California, our biggest problem is gophers. They're like moles on steroids. The only way I control them is traps and I could swear I've seen mole traps when I was looking at gopher traps. Also, you could use poison but I wouldn't if I had any pets who have access to the yard.

Good luck!

4. AMEN--Onionpatch
I'm originally from Southern California,( born in Hollywood and spent the first 13 years of my life there) and I remember VIVIDLY actually running from pissed off gophers who'd been flushed out of their burrows with water hoses. There is nothing I have ever seen to match the size of those creatures nor their viciousness when cornered. A sight to behold, for certain...

3. Try Milky Spore for a start
Milky spore kills the larvae of the Japanese beetle, moles favorite food. Take away the food source and the moles go elsewhere. I can't speak from experience because I did my first application this fall and intend to re-apply in the spring. My husband had used some toxic chemical in the spring to kill the grubs and the moles were nonexistent until fall. I try to use all organic and forbid him to re-apply in the fall after I read about this. Once your milky spore is established it lasts 15 to 20 years. Google Milky spore or Bacillus popilliae and mole control and you can read more about it. I will keep you updated as to how it works in my little corner of the world.
