Any violin players out there?
I need some advice on what to look for to buy a violin for my daughter. She's been playing now for about 8 years so i want to get her something that'l take her through until she's making enough money to buy one of her own laater on if she wants. The problem is that prices seem to be all over the map from $200 to $2000. I know the bow is just as important. Any advice on what to look for or listen for?

1. Is she studying privately?
If so, I'd recommend talking with her teacher first, as s/he will know who to deal with, and may be able to get her a better deal than you would get on your own.

2. you might consider finding a local luthier or music shop that does repairs
and buys and sells used instruments and make an acquaintance.

someone with an experienced eye and ear could surely find a relatively cheap instrument that plays far above its price.

3. Thank you
I'll be taking her to the local music store when they have a special demonstration day and let her try out a variety of instruments. Her teacher at school sent home a couple names, too.
