Looks to me like we may be entering Gandhi's "FIght" stage.
We seem to have moved beyond "ignoring", and beyond "laughing" (although that may still escalate).

So, I'm wondering.... would it be a good idea to discuss here how to combat some of the attacks that are increasing in both volume and quantity?

I think it would help to have some ideas on how best to counteract the crap. We know we can't ignore it (Thanks for that lesson, Kerry!), and we know from the Edwards that they don't react with venom.

The murky area in between can be tricky.

Ideas?

5. Winning doesn't happen automatically, by magic. Gandhi had plans that worked.
What I was asking for was to discuss strategy.

2. Yes, lotsa mean ones lately
Countering lies about JE with truth is always good, but sometimes letting the just generally snarky threads fall to the bottom might be the way to go.

4. the tools we need
Edwards is giving us to tools we need for this fight, and we haven't had a candidate do that in decades. Let's use them.

We don't need to sell the man - we don't need to sell anything. We don't need to choose, or ask people to choose, between practicality and idealism. We can appeal to the principles of the party, we can appeal to people's humanity and compassion, we can elevate the discussion. This is all very powerful.

Rolling thunder, growing and growing. Can you hear it? It will drown out all of the petty bickering and snarking.

We do not see faith, hope and charity as unattainable ideals, but we use them as stout supports of a Nation fighting the fight for freedom in a modern civilization.

Faith— in the soundness of democracy in the midst of dictatorships.

Hope—renewed because we know so well the progress we have made.

Charity— in the true spirit of that grand old word. For charity literally translated from the original means love, the love that understands, that does not merely share the wealth of the giver, but in true sympathy and wisdom helps men to help themselves.

In the place of the palace of privilege we seek to build a temple out of faith and hope and charity.
It is a sobering thing, my friends, to be a servant of this great cause. We try in our daily work to remember that the cause belongs not to us, but to the people. The standard is not in the hands of you and me alone. It is carried by America. We seek daily to profit from experience, to learn to do better as our task proceeds.

There is a mysterious cycle in human events. To some generations much is given. Of other generations much is expected. This generation of Americans has a rendezvous with destiny.

In this world of ours in other lands, there are some people, who, in times past, have lived and fought for freedom, and seem to have grown too weary to carry on the fight. They have sold their heritage of freedom for the illusion of a living. They have yielded their democracy.

I believe in my heart that only our success can stir their ancient hope. They begin to know that here in America we are waging a great and successful war. It is not alone a war against want and destitution and economic demoralization. It is more than that; it is a war for the survival of democracy. We are fighting to save a great and precious form of government for ourselves and for the world.

Can't believe that I am quoting FDR every five minutes, lol. I am fired up.

6. You've reminded me of the true meaning of Aloha, which I think the Edwards embody:
Aloha is the coordination of mind and heart . . . it's within the individual. It brings you down to yourself. You must think and emote good feelings to others.

A stands for AKAHAI, meaning kindness, to be expressed with tenderness.
L stands for LOKAHI, meaning unity, to be expressed with harmony.
O stands for OLU`OLU, meaning agreeable, to be expressed with pleasantness.
H stands for HA`AHA`A, meaning humility, to be expressed with modesty.
A stands for AHONUI, meaning patience, to be expressed with perseverance."

9. That's neat!
"ALOHA!" to all who've yet to see the light of Edwards' correctness. Having had a hand in gardening for years, I'm fairly certain that if I put a tomato seed in the ground - I'm gonna be rewarded with a tomato plant eventually. Same with other veggies/crops. You reap what you sow.

Sow derision and venom? Expect your harvest to yield you just that!
