It is frightening
I saw someone mention in a thread today the parallels between Obama and George W. Bush and after giving it some thought...they are definitely there.
Does anyone else see them?

1. I absolutely do. And yet his cult like followers question nothing.

It really really bothers me that no one has any questions about this man and are willing to give him a pass on everything.Lobbyists? He never agreed to actually keep them out of the WH and took money from them in all his local and one federal race except this one. Hillary is crucified but he is a saint. And no cries of "flip flopper for his changing his stance to be more "politically expedient" And no one seems to notice he doesn't support universal health care. They don't even care when it is brought up. Unlike john, he has promised to give the corporations a seat at the table, and yet they deride Hillary as the corporate candidate. They will soon be calling John that again.

Just as in the case of Bush, remarkably people have no memory of what they say.I have written about this anomaly many times on DU. As soon as Obama has spoken I have frequently asked, what did he say? And yet, no one remembers. They just parrot "Oh , he was wonderful."

Barack is, as was Bush, an empty suit , and had also displayed the nasty side that Bush is famous for. His jabs at John and his remarks about baby boomers hint at a subtle viciousness. Michelle Obamas stance that she "might not vote for the nominee if it wasn't Barack" intimate a vindictiveness that was associated with Barbara Bush. Her comments about the blacks better "getting in line" is another Bush like remark.

All of this and a very real corruption that may soon be exposed are very real reasons to worry about Obama.

2. One of the most frightening parallels for me
Is the way his followers act. The whole cult thing. The inability to see through him at all. The unwillingness to question him.

3. I have to be careful with this but this is like it is orchestrated by Goebbals. Sorry but that
including the chants "Yes we Can" and the upraised arms reminds me of that scene.

10. "the upraised arms reminds me of that scene"
those upraised arms remind of that pretentious bullshit that evangelicals do enmass during their worships. it absolutely turns me off. and obama's use of it turns me off as well.

4. Was it me ?
Oh yeah, I did post something to the effect that if Hillary's criticizing Barack, I was happy someone was smacking that smirk off his face. Also said he "had the strut and cockiness" down pat.

I winced through his entired Potomac Primary speech last night, the parallels to Bush,Jr were quite evident.

Joe Wilson is right.

14. Yes. It scares me, too.
Do you have a link you could post to the post/thread you mention? I'd like to see it.

I've noticed all the things mentioned here: the personality cult, the lock-step attitude, the evangelizing, the arrogance and strutting, the strange degrading sense of humor, and on and on. It scares me, too, that sometimes when people are "won over," the way they describe their decision is akin to a religious conversion. I don't mean to say that this is true of all--I know that there are some Edwards supporters who have chosen to back Obama, and I don't mean to denigrate anyone's choice--but I see this in many of his supporters. I wish I could shake these feelings about this, and I've tried, but I can't.

15. For me it's the cadence of their speech.
Bush has a rhythm in his speech. It's like 4-6 words or syllables up, a pause, then 4-6 words or syllables down. Obama uses a very similar pattern. That's why I can't listen to Obama's speeches. He reminds me of Bush. At least Obama can pronounce words correctly and doesn't make them up as he goes.

17. honestly a Lawyer doing volunteer work for Edwards in Iowa told many of us
that obama's cadence was a copy directly from Reagan!!

This particular Lawyer said he studies speech to know if his clients are telling him the truth and he uses it while doing depositions..

he said he has now studied the way Obama speaks..and he has copied Reagan...

there is nothing Obama does that doesn't copy someone..he copies Edwards in policy and copies Reagan in speech..he even copies Hillary as he is now saying his Health plan is universal health coverage..which it is not..but ..he just lies on cue..and who is checking him? certainly not the fucking media..

remember when that jerk was in Iowa..his policy was "HOPE"

while John spoke of Change..by the time Obama made it to NH he had stolen Edwards "Change"
and it became Obama's then and no one challanged him that he stole Edwards "change"..what a fucking coward to me ..someone who steals other ideas and ideals..and just plagarizes every damn thing others say and stand for.

I get so furious now when i see "CHANGE" on oBama's podium..i just scream ..you damn fucking liar ..when i see him..it makes me so angry..

i can't even stand to look at the jerk.
