Blacks, Hispanics biggest losers if health care reform fails
by Earl Ofari Hutchinson, New America Media

If President Barack Obama's drive for some form of universal health care falters the biggest losers by far will be blacks and Hispanics.

Blacks and Hispanics make up nearly half of the estimated 50 million Americans who have no health care insurance, according to a report by the Commonwealth Fund. But the danger signs for reform are real. A Washington Post/ABC News poll found that public support for Obama's plan is decreasing.

This is no surprise.

The instant Obama announced he would make health care reform his defining issue reform opponents kicked their attack into high gear. The two hit points are that it's too costly and too intrusive -- meaning that it will snatch from Americans the right to choose their own doctors and health plans and dump health care into the alleged slipshod, inefficient hands of government bureaucrats. The real fear of private insurers, pharmaceuticals and major medical practitioners is that they'll have to treat millions of uninsured, unprofitable, largely unhealthy blacks and Hispanics.

1. Why??! Why, why are people so damned stupid?
A Washington Post/ABC News poll found that public support for Obama's plan is decreasing.

WHY?? Do people not understand what is going on? Every Op-Ed I've read has said that health care reform is desperately needed. And that Obama's plan, though not perfect, is a desperately needed step in the right direction.

These teabagging assholes and their leaders (aka Rush, Beck and Hannity) need to be drawn and quartered. The idea that the people whose need for this reform is the greatest are the ones FIGHTING this isht because "Rush told them to" makes me want to scream.

The real fear of private insurers, pharmaceuticals and major medical practitioners is that they'll have to treat millions of uninsured, unprofitable, largely unhealthy blacks and Hispanics."

This is SHAMEFUL. Black and brown folks need to unite on this and other issues. We cannot allow the (majority white) fools determined to vote against their own self-interests and so preoccupied with fighting everything the black man in the White House with the foreign name wants to get done, that they'd sell themselves and damn sure everyone with melanin down the river in the process. These "uninsured, unprofitable, largely unhealthy blacks and Hispanics" are AMERICANS. Why are they not deserving???

2. It is shameful - IMMORAL, in fact. All I can figure is selfishness and greed.

THEY have great healthcare. The rest can go to Hell, they probably figure. And, most of these Blue Dog "Democrats" (and others) are collecting huge sums from insurance industry and pharma - and AARP, AMA, etc.

They won't do what's right or what's needed as long as it's so profitable (for them) not to. They'll fight tooth and nail to keep up the status quo that benefits them exclusively at the expense of many - especially those with the greatest need. They are immoral parasites, IMO.

:grr:

3. Greed. Most definitely greed.
People of color and the poor (too often the same thing) are always the first ones sacrificed at the altar of the almighty dollar.
