Nearly 200 soldiers from the Indiana National Guard’s 38th Infantry Division Headquarters and Headquarters Company will be activated in mid-2009 to deploy to Afghanistan.

The soldiers, whose unit is based in Indianapolis, will train at Camp Atterbury, Ind., before going overseas. While deployed, the soldiers will facilitate the reception, training, housing and sustainment of U.S. troops entering the country.

They also will assist the Afghan government with security, construction and agricultural support in their area of operations.
